From The Principal's Desk

Dear St Clare's Community,

Here we are at the end of the first semester of the 2022 school year. I am sure that everyone is hoping for some fine weather for the holidays. As always, it has been a very busy first half of the year, along with the disruptions of COVID. We have been very fortunate not to be severely impacted and I thank families for their continued understanding throughout the semester.

The last few weeks have been busy with many different opportunities for our students. We were wonderfully entertained with the ‘Ghana Beat my Drum' performance, we had a Touch Development officer visit, completed our first Chess Competition, attended Read to Me Day and entered a team in the annual Reader’s Cup, just to name a few. It is wonderful to see our students and staff embrace these events and enjoy them to the full.

Athletics Carnival

We are all looking forward to our Athletics Carnival this week. Thank you to Mrs Mason for all the hard work and preparation throughout the term that goes into organising days like these. It is only through the extra effort of Mrs Mason that we are able to hold days like this - Please join us if you are able.

Staffing

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I share the news that Mrs Helen Andrews will be returning to St. Clare’s in Term 3. Helen will return in a part time capacity as Leader of Diversity. Mrs Sharon Chappel will continue in the Acting APRE role until the end of the year and we sincerely thank her for taking on this important role at St. Clare’s with such dedication and enthusiasm. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Chris Edwards. Chris has doubled up her workload to continue to provide support for our teachers and diverse learners in Helen’s absence. This has been an enormous undertaking on top of her role as Leader of Learning/Curriculum.

We will also welcome Mrs Amanda Baston to St. Clare’s in Term 3. Amanda is taking on the classroom teacher position in Year 4 for the duration of Term 3. We thank Mrs Cherie Jenkins for stepping into Year 4 to provide continuity for our students. I would also like to thank Mrs Kaitlyn Marsilio for the extra workload she has taken on for this to happen. We will also say goodbye to Mr Adrian Frost and thank him for stepping into Year 6 for the final weeks of Term 2.

Pre-Service Teachers

Next term we welcome 3 Pre-Service teachers to St. Clare’s. These education students will be undertaking their final prac experience. Anne O’Connell will work in Prep, Kylie Wilkins will work in Year 5 and Melissa Leonardi will work in Year 2. It will be very exciting to be able to showcase St. Clare’s to these up and coming teachers.

School Values

We have been working on choosing whole school values in Semester 1. Faith, Knowledge, Community and Respect have been decided on. The next step is for us to select images that best depict these values. Each students will have the opportunity to put forward their ideas. Parents are also invited to have their say! There are some forms in the office for you to sketch out your ideas - please drop in and collect one if you would like to contribute to making this decision. You do not need to have any artistic talent, just ideas! We will hand over our ideas to a graphic artist to come up with final designs based on your feedback.

Prep 2023

Enrolment interviews for Prep 2022 have taken place and a transition program will run through Term 4. We now have a waiting list for next year.

Late Arrivals and Absences

We understand that sometimes late arrivals are unavoidable. If you do find that your student arrives after the bell, please remind them that they will need to go to the office to get a late card before heading off to their classroom. If your child will be absent from school, please ensure you notify the office.

Thank you again to all students, parents and staff for all that you do for and with us at St Clare’s. Blessings for some well deserved rest and family time during the school break.
