Sports News

Jim Graham Cup

Thirteen boys from Year 5 and 6 travelled to Callendar Park in Innisfail at the end of last Term to participate in the Jim Graham Cup. The boys had been training in the lead up to the day during their lunch times and although they had a few injuries and were defeated on the day, they managed to continue to hold their heads high and displayed great sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to David Aspinall who was nominated as the Player of the Day for St Clare’s. A huge thank you to Mr  Emmi for coaching us and to Johnny Clifford and Mr Nona for their support for the team on the day.

We are also very grateful for the transport assistance from Alice McNamara, Catherine Aspinall, Rhiannon Lizzio and Brendan Slattery as without them our attendance at this carnival would have been impossible. A huge thank you Mrs Chappel for all of her work with managing the team for this carnival. There is a lot of work put in behind the scenes to allow students to attend events like this and we are very grateful for all that Mrs Chappel does.

FNQ Regional Cricket Blast Finals

Six of our talented cricketers headed up to Cairns last Friday to compete in the FNQ Regional Finals for the Cricket Blast competition. The team consisted of six students from St. Clare's - Chase Frumento, Nollie Uitenweerde, Saxon Solien, Seb DiMauro, William Robertson and Jonah Wilcox; as well as two students from Mission Beach State School - Sean and Charlie.

The boys played very well and displayed excellent sportsmanship amongst their teammates and they came away as runners up of the B Pool Division. Congratulations boys.

A huge thank you Jake Robertson who coached, umpired and scored all of our games and thank you also to the parents who assisted with transport. It is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Kate Mason
