State Cricket Championships
In the final week of Term 1, Chase Frumento travelled to Rockhampton for a full week of cricket where he played in the Peninsula Cricket Team at the Queensland Championships. It is an outstanding achievement to be selected to play at this level. Chase's team placed 9th overall at the Championships and Chase displayed exceptional skill on the field, bowling, batting and fielding. Congratulations Chase on this wonderful achievement.
Southern Zone Touch Gala Day
On the final day of last Term the students in years 4, 5 and 6 attended another amazing sporting event which was held for all of the children in our region. A massive thank you to Cherie Jenkins for convening yet another exceptional carnival. Thank you also to Tully SHS for the use of their facilities and a huge thank you to Michael and Tegan Langdon for their kind donation of ice which helped to keep everyone well hydrated and refreshed on what was an extremely hot day.
Congratulations to all of our students for yet again displaying excellent behaviour, outstanding skill and above all, exceptional sportsmanship. All of the staff in attendance were very proud of each and every St Clare's student at the gala day. It was extremely hot conditions and some of our teams were low in numbers but our students showed just how driven and dedicated they are for being there for one another and working as a team.
Our Year 5 boys teams were awarded the Sportsmanship Award and brought home a nice big trophy. These boys were chosen as the teams that displayed the highest level of sportsmanship and we are so very proud of them. Congratulations boys!
Maria Crema from Tully Touch presented a number of students with awards at the completion of the carnival. These students were selected for displaying a high level of sportsmanship and an all round great attitude during their games. Congratulations to Lexie Waters, Seb Di Mauro, Tina Nguyen and Evie Zonta who all received these special awards.
We had an amazing group of parents who assisted with coaching at the carnival and we are so very grateful for your support and guidance. Thank you very much from the students and staff - Alice McNamara, Alicia Johnston, Leonie Morris, Rachael Hodgson, Lani Miller and Tarea Farrell.
We were very fortunate to have a big group of Tully SHS students who volunteered their time to come and referee all of the games throughout the day. The majority of these students are past St Clare's students who kindly come back and help our school at big events like this one. The level of knowledge, confidence and respect presented by all of these students was exceptional and we are so very grateful for their time and support. Thank you referees and thank you Tully SHS for supporting our Gala Day.
Special thanks to Marie Vipiana and her wonderful team of helpers and cooks for the amazing spread of food. We know how much work goes into running a tuckshop like that and we are very thankful for all that you do.
Thank you to all of the parents who assisted with transport to and from the carnival and thank you very much to the parents and crew from Tully Touch who assisted with line marking (Jeffrey Jenkins, Paul Johnston and Michael Jones) and setting up and packing up of tents (John Clifford, Paul Grimaz and a number of parents who jumped in and helped out). We are very lucky to have so many people in our community who are so generous with their time and support.
Peninsula Rugby League Championships
A number of our students have travelled to Cairns this week to represent the Cassowary Coast District at the Regional Rugby League Championships. Congratulations to Kelly Clifford, Logan Jesse, Chase Frumento, Saxon Solien, Nate Silvestro and Blake Blennerhassett for being selected to play at this level. This is a wonderful achievement and we are proud of each and every one of you.
Kind Regards
Kate Mason
