Welcome back to Term Three!
The Pope’s Monthly Intentions for 2019
Each year, the Holy Father asks for our prayers for a specific intention each month. You are invited to answer the Holy Father's request and to join with many people worldwide in praying for this intention each month. From time to time, the Holy Father may add a second prayer intention related to current events or urgent needs, such as disaster relief. The second prayer request will help mobilize prayer and action related to the urgent situation.
The Holy Father has entrusted these intentions to the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network (also known as the Apostleship of Prayer), an organization that works to encourage Christians to respond to the Pope's appeal and to deepen their daily prayer. You can find more information about the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network on their website at http://popesprayerusa.net/. (The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network will also publish any urgent prayer intentions of the Holy Father as soon as they are received from the Holy See.)

Catholic Education Week
28 July – 3 August 2019
This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great things that take place in Catholic schools every day.
The theme for this year’s celebrations is: Many Voices. One Spirit.
Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society.
Our school is planning a number of activities during the week and we hope you are able to join in the celebrations with us.
The Prep to Year 2 Liturgy which was previously scheduled for Monday, 29th July has been moved to Wednesday, 31st at 10:15am. Following the Liturgy, parents, grandparents and friends are invited to visit classrooms for a short time before moving to the Heart of St Clare’s Garden for a whole school morning tea to celebrate our grandparents at 11am. A special invitation will be sent home with each family this week.
This year, Year 3 to 6 will be travelling to Innisfail on Tuesday 30th July to take part in the Catholic Education Mass and activities with students from other Southern Deanery schools.
On Friday, 2nd August Year 4 will lead the school with a short liturgy on assembly at 8:40am. Fun Friday afternoon activities will complete the Catholic Education Week celebrations.

Saints ANNE & JOACHIM: GRANDPARENTS OF JESUS
This saintly couple are parents to Mary and grandparents to Jesus. With such amazing offspring, Joachim and Anne must have shared an extraordinary love. They have long been held up as exemplars for married couples, and in fact, they are one of the few married couple saints canonised in the Catholic Church.
We know very few facts about Saints Anne and Joachim, the only recorded stories of them are from an apocryphal gospel dating from the 4th Century AD called the Protoevangelium of James.
The legend told says that after years of childlessness, an angel appeared to tell Anne and Joachim that they would have a child. Whatever their names or the facts of their lives, we can assume that Mary was raised in a Jewish family home faithful to God and to the religious traditions of her day such that she was led to respond wholeheartedly to God’s request with faith, “Let it be done to me as you will.”
This Friday, 26th July we celebrate the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, Grandparents of Jesus. To all our grandparents, thank you for all the gifts of life and faith you have given us. We hope many of our grandparents will be able to join us for our whole school morning tea next Wednesday, 31st July at 11am in the Heart of St Clare’s Garden to celebrate the special gifts they share with us.
