Swimming Carnival
Our annual swimming carnival is fast approaching. Here is the program for our carnival which is held at the Tully Pool on Friday the 24th of November. The pool will be charging the $2 spectator fee again this year. This money will be collected by the pool upon entry for those of you who are coming along to watch.
Students are required to attend school in the morning as normal and then students will walk to the pool with their class teacher. The presentation is held back at school in the Montefalco at approximately 2:30pm. Please keep in mind that all times in the program are approximate and subject to change on the day as the carnival progresses.
Our amazing Mrs Vipiana will be doing the tuckshop at the school and then delivering the food to the pool or the classrooms for the Prep and Year 1 students who will have returned to school after their events. Please be sure to order your tuckshop by 10am on Thursday the 23rd of November.
Southern Zone Sports Awards Night
The Southern Zone Sports Awards night is next Monday, the 13th of November, at Tully State High School. Congratulations to all of our very talented students who have been invited to attend. Please remember to wear your academic uniform and meet at the Multipurpose Centre at 5:30pm for a 6pm start. I look forward to seeing you all there and celebrating the success of our students.
Peninsula Selection for 2024
We have had a number of students travel to Cairns in the past week to compete at Peninsula Trials. A massive congratulations to Laine Spencer who has been selected in the 12-14 years Peninsula Baseball team. Laine will travel to the South Coast Region in April 2024 to compete at the State Championships. Not only is Laine one of the youngest competitors selected in this team but he is also new to the sport only having done some backyard practice in the lead up to the trial. An outstanding achievement Laine. We are extremely proud of you and we wish you all the best at the State Titles next year.
Layla Morris, Kade Murphy and Eddie Brunello all competed at the 11-12 years Peninsula Aquathlon Championship in Cairns as well. The aquathlon involves students doing a 1km run, 200m swim and 1km run. Layla, Kade and Eddie all did exceptionally well and have all been selected in the Peninsula team to compete at the State Championships at Hervey Bay in February 2024. Layla finished 5th overall with Kade placing 4th overall and Eddie placing 7th overall. This is such an incredible achievement and we are so very proud of all of you. This is another sport that is not on offer in our local area and these students have done a little bit of training and gone along to have a go with their incredible talent shining through. Congratulations Layla, Kade and Eddie and we wish you all the best at the State Championships in February.
Year 6 vs Parent Netball Match
Our big annual netball match between the Year 6 class and the parents is scheduled for Wednesday the 22nd of November at 2pm in the Montefalco. We look forward to seeing the Year 6 parents participate in one last Primary School sports event with their child. Everyone is welcome to come along and we hope to see you all there.

Kind Regards,

Kate Mason
