Sports News

Persistent rain has cast a damp shadow over our athletic endeavors on the oval this week, but the students of St Clare’s remain undeterred. Despite the downpour, they have continued their training with unwavering determination. High jump practice now takes place in the sheltered Monte Falco area where students meticulously refine their scissor-kick technique. Across all year levels, Ball Games skills are being honed, and even our youngest learners—the prep students—have embraced healthy competition during their Ship/Shark/Shore games.

Last Friday, the determined 10-12 soccer team from St. Clare’s aimed their compass toward Castor Park in Mourilyan. Their mission? To conquer the field, despite the soggy terrain and sideways rain that seemed to defy gravity. Undeterred by the elements, our young athletes donned their Tully Flames jerseys—a blaze of orange against the grey backdrop. With unwavering resolve, they faced off against their opponents, their boots digging into the mud like anchors. And what a spectacle it was! Four games played; four victories claimed. The boys showcased not only their skills, but also their sportsmanship—a testament to the values instilled at St. Clare’s. Well played Billy, Oliver, Jaxson, Kace, Henry, Warrick, Jaxon and Lincoln

We also had 4 students make the trek to Yungaburra to compete in Peninsula trials for Cross Country: Layla, Heath, Madison and Nina. Despite the windy, muddy and cold conditions, all of these students put in their best effort to compete in a tough race. Congratulations to Layla who will now join the Peninsula team in the upcoming State Championships.
