From The Principal's Desk

Dear St. Clare’s Community,

This week is Wellbeing Week. Let’s hope that the sun stays out and we can take full advantage of a homework free week. It is encouraged that students still read daily during the week. Wellbeing of all students is a central focus of our Catholic Schools. What is your family going to do together instead of homework? Play a boardgame? Go for a beach walk? Try a new recipe?

A reminder that we will celebrate Queensland Day and the start of the 2024 Origin Series on Wednesday. Students can come in free dress, either wearing their Origin colours or tropical shirts. All clothing needs to be sunsmart and closed in shoes still need to be worn.

On Thursday we have a team travelling to Cairns to participate in the Readers Cup. Jace, William, Sammy & CC have been spending a lot of time immersing themselves into this year's book selection and we wish them all the best for Thursday. A huge thank you to Mrs Irvine for working with these students and organising our team.

Next week is all things Athletics! Let’s hope the sun stays out and dries things out a bit for us. Monday 10th is our half day, followed by a full day on Thursday 13th. An outline of the Carnival was sent out via Seesaw last week and is also attached to this newsletter

Feedback Survey

If you have not yet received your 2024 'Parent/Carer Feedback Survey', please check your email SPAM folder for the email message with your school name 'Parent/Carer Feedback Survey' as the subject. A reminder that surveys are due by 7th June 2024. Your insights and feedback are important to us.

Attendance

Attendance data to date - 80.8% of students have attended 90% (or more). This is an increase. When we take into consideration all the sickness that has been going around, this percentage is quite good. Thank you very much for keeping sick students away from school. It really does help reduce the impact of coughs, colds and viruses and is very much appreciated. Our goal is 90% of students attending 90% of the time. Only 7.7% of student absences are unexplained. This is a dramatic decrease, thank you. Our unexplained absences usually sit at around 15%. Our goal is 0 unexplained absences. If your child is away - please continue to notify the office.

At the Term 2 meeting, the St. Clare’s School Board updated the Stewardship and Fundraising policies. The updated versions can be found on the Parent Portal (documents).

Sent to the Principal’s Office

Since our last newsletter, I have had many visitors to my office to show off some of the hard work happening at St. Clare’s. I am constantly blown away by the effort students and their teachers put into their learning. I have been lucky enough to hear some more amazing singing, read some outstanding writing, see more coding in action through Lego models, learn some Italian and even see structures that would withstand a blast from the Big Bad Wolf! Well done everyone, you are truly the Heart of St. Clare’s and each visit makes my day so very special.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Tully 100 Street Parade on Saturday.

Take care and blessings for the weeks ahead.
