Sports News
We have only been back at school for just over a week and the calendar has already been action packed with lots of sporting events!
Cricket Trials
Kace Hodgson, William Roberston, Henry Robertson, Darcy Aspinall, Seb Di Mauro, Declan Lizzio and Jaxon Lizzio attended the Southern Zone cricket trials on Friday afternoon at the Kim Carroll Sporting Fields. All of these boys were successful in progressing to the Cassowary Coast trials to be held on Friday August 2. Well done boys!
Ken Hamill
On Saturday night, a team of our Year 5 and 6 Rugby League enthusiasts played in the much anticipated Ken Hamill Cup. This annual event sees Tully State School and St Clare’s go head to head as a curtain raiser to the A Grade Tully Tigers home game. This year, after a nail biting 40 minutes of play, a draw was declared. Thank you to Filip Silvestro for training and coaching the team in the lead up to this event.
Peninsula Cross Country
Layla Morris has just returned from the State Championships for Cross Country, held in Bald Hills, over the weekend. In a tough competition, Layla had a strong start to her race and also competed in a 1 km relay race.
Rugby Union
Saxon Solien is off to Sunnybank to represent Peninsula in the 11-12 years Rugby Union team at the end of this week. Congratulations on this achievement Saxon.
District Athletics
A number of children from St Clare’s will be competing in events at the Southern Zone District Athletics Carnival this week. Please ensure all Parent Slips and paperwork has been completed if your child is attending. The schedules for both of these days have been emailed to parents of children involved and are also included in this newsletter. We wish all of our competitors the best of luck!
We have also had some changes to Health and Physical Education lessons. Mr Ryan will deliver PE lessons on Tuesday’s & Thursday’s, and Prep Health on Thursday’s. Mrs Marsilio will deliver all other Health lessons on Thursday’s. Mrs Chappel will be coordinating District Sports. If you do have a child participate at District or Peninsula level please send through any information and photos to sct.sports@cns.catholic.edu.au so that we can share this with our community.
