Athletics

Our annual Athletics Carnival was a great success! It is always such a pleasure to watch the enthusiasm and resilience of the St Clare’s children on days like this. Most importantly, it is wonderful to see house spirit alive and well in the war cry chants, ball games, and even a house dance off. Thank you to the many staff and parents who assisted us in any way in running a smooth carnival.

Discus trials will be held in PE lessons next week. If your child is aged 9-12 years and placed in any of our events, they will have the opportunity to compete at the Southern Zone Cassowary Coast trials. This will be held on Wednesday August 6 after school at Tully State High School (800m and discus) and on Friday August 8 at Lower Tully State School (all other track and field events). Parent Slips (and further information) will be sent out for eligible children early next term.

This year, we had the 9 years Girls Shot Put record broken. Congratulations to Charlie La Fauci who threw an amazing 6.56m!

Our Age Champions were:

8 years - River Kurschat & Nylah Johnson
9 years - Emmett Frumento & Charlie La Fauci
10 years - Billy Morris & Evie Parkes
11 years - Billy Johnston & Nina Trickey
12 years - Kade Murphy & Shiloh Spencer
13 years - Tina Nguyen

The Champion House for this year’s carnival was Woomera (who have not won this carnival since 2019). Congratulations to all involved.
