Sport Updates
On Friday the Cassowary Coast Southern Netball and Rugby league carnivals were held at Tully State School and St. Clare’s. St. Clare’s teams and students performed fantastically on the day.
In the Rugby league both the under 10’s and 12’s sides finished runners up in their divisions. Highlight of the day was Peter Solien winning the Player of the Carnival award . At the conclusion of the carnival two district sides were selected to play Cassowary Coast Northern sides in the coming weeks. Congratulations to the following boys who were successful in making these sides
- Clay Chappel, Case Durighello, Liam Quabba and Jackson Solien in the under 11’s
- Jared Nash and Peter Solien in the under 12s
Unfortunately, no netball players were successful in selection in the Cassowary Coast South under 12 side but all of the St. Clare’s sides had excellent carnivals and won many games in their divisions. The highlight being the two St. Clare’s B grade sides who played each other in the grand final.
Our attention now turns to cross country and touch football to finish off this terms sport. The St. Clare’s Cross country will be held on Friday the 27th March on the school grounds. Students are busy preparing for this in morning lap running. Numbers at this have been fairly low and it would great to see more kids coming out on the oval before school to get ready for the carnival.
The Cassowary Coast Southern touch football carnival will be held on the 3rd April at the Tully State High School. All students in year 4-6 will be attending.
More information regarding these two events will be handed out via parent slips in the next couple of weeks.
Congratulations to Lucy Chilcott who competed for the Peninsula region at Queensland School Sport under 12 Aquathon Championships in Hervey Bay. Lucy had tremendous race finishing 41st out of 90 athletes and is super excited about competing in more aquathons and triathlons in the future. Well done Lucy !
We would like to wish Maddison Apap all the best when she heads down to Brisbane to compete at the Queensland State Swimming Championships on the 23rd to 25th March. Maddison will compete in the 50 metre freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly as well as the 200 metre breaststroke and individual medley events. Good luck Maddison in this huge program !
