National Reconciliation Week 2020 – 27th May to 3rd June
This week is National Reconciliation Week.
On 28 May, Cairns Catholic Education will be Virtually launching (in the era of Covid-19) the Catholic Education Community Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). What is a RAP?
A RAP is a commitment to practical actions that will drive our organisation’s contribution to reconciliation.
The practical actions outline commitment to developing respectful relationships and creating meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Stay tuned on our St Clare’s School Facebook page for how to join the virtual launch.
Reconciliation Prayer
(Prayer from Wontulp Bi-Buya Indigenous Theology Working Group, 13 March 1997)
Holy Father, God of Love,
You are the Creator of all things.
We acknowledge the pain and shame of our history and the sufferings of
Our peoples,
We ask for your forgiveness.
We thank you for the survival of Indigenous cultures.
Our hope is in you because you gave your Son Jesus to reconcile the
world to you.
We pray for your strength and grace to forgive, accept and love one
another, as you love us and forgive and accept us in the sacrifice of your
Son.
Give us the courage to accept the realities of our history so that we may
build a better future for our Nation.
Teach us to respect all cultures.
Teach us to care for our land and waters.
Help us to share justly the resources of this land.
Help us to bring about spiritual and social change to improve the quality
of life for all groups in our communities,
Especially the disadvantaged.
Help young people to find true dignity and self-esteem by your Spirit.
May your power and love be the foundations on which we build
our families,
our communities,
and our Nation.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Pope Prayers for May: The Month of Mary
Pope Francis has asked Catholics to make a special effort in May to pray the Rosary, knowing that by doing this, they will be united with believers around the world asking for Mary’s intercession in stopping the coronavirus pandemic.
Pope Francis has written two prayers to be recited at the end of each Rosary (These are included in the Parish Bulletin emailed each week to the Parish community and as of last week, to the School community).
Anna Jimenez would like to invite you to join our family to pray the rosary including the two suggested prayers by the Holy Father, via Zoom during all Wednesdays of May at 4pm. The Zoom meeting details are listed below:
