From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are in the midst of the busy time of year where teaching and learning is still a major focus and we are also planning for end of year events and the year ahead. Our students have enjoyed swimming each week as the weather warms up and are excited about their upcoming carnival on Nov 27. I thank all staff for their ongoing dedication to our students and the extras that are part of the job at this time of the year.  Information about the Swimming Carnival will be sent to families closer to the date.

Prep Transition

Our Prep 2021 students will attend their final day at St. Clare’s this Wednesday. Thank you to Gita Sima and Pauline Colombini for the wonderful experiences they have given our future prep students over the past 5 weeks. We all look forward to the learning journey of these children commencing in January 2021.

School Leaders 2021

Some Yr 5 students are currently preparing their campaign posters and speeches to be presented in Week 8 for School Captain and House Captain positions. Speeches will be presented to the school body on Thursday November 26th. Yr 5 parents will be advised the times of speeches in coming weeks.

As we commenced this year, all students in Yr 6 in 2021 will be a Student Leader and demands of representation, welcoming visitors, functions, mass/liturgies etc will be shared amongst all students during the year. These students will have a leadership retreat in Term 1, 2021.

Yr 6 Mini Fete

This Thursday our Yr 6 students will host the annual mini fete. This links to their Religious Education units that focus on service and social justice. Funds raised for the mini fete usually go to Catholic Mission as our key focus of support each year. This year we have decided to split the money between Catholic Mission and the Children’s Hospital Foundation.  We have a spirited young prep student, Matt Porter, who we miss terribly as he has spent most of the year in Brisbane receiving medical treatment.  Matt, and many other children, receive amazing support from the Children’s Hospital Foundation so we are proud to be able to support them in Matt’s name.

It is a good idea to send in change with children to the mini fete (most children bring $10-$15) and a bag for them to carry their winnings/purchases in.  All students are able to wear casual clothes this Thursday for our mini fete day.

Best wishes for the week ahead,

Narelle Harney
