Pope’s Intentions for May 2019

That the Church in Africa, through the commitment of its members, may be the seed of unity among her peoples and a sign of hope for this continent.

God of kindness,
you created your children to live united to you,
in communion with one another.
During this month, we pray you for Christians in Africa,
that they may open themselves to your presence and to your reconciling action
in the midst of the divisions of this world.
May your grace move hearts to forgiveness and mercy,
with a sincere desire to build peace
and nurture hope in the future,
especially among the poorest and the young.

Grateful Hearts

We are very grateful for the wonderful response to our Mother’s Day Mass celebration on Saturday night. Thank you to all who were able to help celebrate this wonderful occasion and thank you to the children, staff and parishioners who helped prepare and took part in the Mass.

The Creative Arts Collective

As a lead in event to Catholic Education Week early in Term 3, The Creative Arts Collective is being promoted throughout the Cairns Diocese. This initiative highlights the amazing and creative artwork by students at Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Cairns Diocese. Students are invited to submit an art piece which may include artwork, photography, sculpture, music and film. Along with the art piece, students are to submit a 50-100-word response on what ‘Many Voices. One Spirit’ means to them (see the attached information for further details). Chosen art works will be published in the Diocese and beyond and will also be exhibited during Catholic Education Week.

The Creative Arts Collective will visualise and celebrate our Catholic Identity through our students’ creativity.

Big Breakfast at St Clare’s

Next Thursday, 23rd May, as part of the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea event, the Stewardship Team will be hosting a breakfast for students. The tuckshop will be open for breakfast from 8am to 8:30am and the team will be serving breakfast (pancakes, fruit, toast and juices) for the cost of $2 per student. Money raised will help with research, prevention and support for the high percentage of Australians who are diagnosed with cancer. We encourage students to bring their $2 and enjoy breakfast with their friends.
