From The Acting Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term Three.  It has been wonderful to see so many smiles over the past week as we all return for the term. While the lockdowns and the weather didn’t fully cooperate with many of our plans, I hope that you all had a chance to spend time with family and friends.

I’m sure many families will take advantage of the long weekend this week (Tully Show Holiday Friday 23rd) and are keeping everything crossed for fine weather.

Catholic Education Week

Next week is Catholic Education Week (Wk 3). This week is an opportunity for all 309 Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos.

Our Yr 4-6 students will travel to Innisfail to celebrate Mass with other schools in the Southern Deanery and stay for a short time afterwards. Prep – 3 Students will celebrate with a Liturgy at St. Clare’s. Further information can be found in the APRE News.

Prep 2022

Interviews with students and their families for Prep 2022 have taken place.  We have very limited spaces left in our Prep 2022 class, so if you know anyone with a child born between 1/7/2016 and 30/6/2017 who intends on coming to St Clare’s but hasn’t enrolled yet, please ask them to contact our office asap.  I have met some wonderful future students in past weeks and look forward to getting to know them further at our transition program in Term 4.

Damage in Car Park

Unfortunately, we have had some damage to cars in the car park. This seems to be caused by opening car doors onto other cars. When using the carpark please be mindful of those parked around you and if you can remind children to be extra careful when they are getting in and out of cars, it would be very much appreciated.

Grounds person

We recently advertised for a Grounds person to replace Trish. As yet we have not received any suitable applicants and this position will be readvertised. The position involves maintaining the grounds and gardens, as well as very minor odd jobs, for approximately 15 hours per week. If you know of anyone that may be interested in this position please let them know they can find further information online at: https://www.cns.catholic.edu.au/employment/

National Pyjama Day

National Pyjama Day falls on Friday 23rd July. As it is our show holiday, St. Clare’s will celebrate this day on Monday 26th July. Students & staff (parents are welcome to join in too!), are invited to come to school in their pyjamas. Closed in shoes are still required to be worn and pyjamas also need to fit in with the school’s Sunsmart policy. Anyone coming to school in their pyjama’s is asked to bring a gold coin donation. Students that do not wish to wear their pyjama’s are to come in their usual school uniform.
