Sport Updates
Cross Country
Our Cross Country is on Friday the 25th of March. Parents are welcome to attend and we will have a spectators tent set up on our oval for anyone wishing to cheer the students on. The first race will start at 9am and the races will run in the order of eldest to youngest (Students born 2010 run first and students born 2017 run last). Unfortunately we are unable to provide race start times as it is dependent on the students completing the races prior and the weather. We are hoping to have the presentations completed by 11am.
Please ensure that your child is dressed in their house shirt, has sunscreen, a water bottle and an asthma puffer (if required). The mosquitoes might be back out in full force again with this recent rain so I highly recommend applying repellent to your child/ren prior to school on the morning of the carnival.
Students run in their year of birth so the distance they run is according to the age they turn on their birthday this year. The approximate distances the students run are as follows:
11 and 12 year old - 3km
9 and 10 year old - 2km
7 and 8 year old - 1km
5 and 6 year old - 500m
Touch Football Gala Day
Friday last week saw our students attend another wonderful sporting event organised for the children in our region. A big thank you to Cherie Jenkins who convened this carnival and also to Tully SHS for the use of their amazing facilities. Congratulations to all of our students for yet again displaying excellent behaviour and playing exceptionally well in what were very hot conditions. Congratulations to the students selected in the Southern Zone Team and all the best at the Cassowary Coast Trial.
Our year 5 girls team were awarded the only trophy presented on the day which was for the team that exhibited the highest level of sportsmanship. It is such an honour for our girls to receive this award and we are so very proud of them. Congratulations girls!
We had an amazing group of parents who assisted with coaching at the carnival and we are so very grateful for your support and guidance. Thank you very much from the students and staff - Alice McNamara, Alicia Johnston, Chris Condon, Catherine Aspinall and Anthony Emmi.
Special thanks to Marie Vipiana and her wonderful team of helpers and cooks for the amazing spread of food. We know how much work goes into running a tuckshop like that and we are very thankful for all that you do.
Thank you to all of the parents who assisted with transport to and from the carnival and thank you very much to the parents and crew from Tully Touch who assisted with line marking (Jeffrey Jenkins, Paul Johnston and Michael Jones) and setting up and packing up of tents (Paul Johnston and John Clifford). Thank you also to Michael and Tegan Langdon for their kind donation of ice for the carnival. We are very lucky to have so many people in our community who are so generous with their time and support.
