From The Principal's Desk

Dear St Clare's Community,

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope all families were able to refresh over the Easter break ready for another wonderful term at school.  As always, Term 2 is a busy one withPicture2.png many sporting events and we continue to pray for fine weather, especially for the Athletics Carnival in Week 10. Other things on this term include NAPLAN, School Performance Tour, Tully Read to Me Day, Biggest Morning Tea, National Simultaneous Storytime and the inaugural St. Clare’s Chess Competition!

Over the holidays some work has been carried out, the painters have been busy refreshing all the handrails, repainting the shapes in the Maths Garden and painting over the mural on the back wall of the tuckshop. We hope to replace the mural with a more contemporary artwork that reflects the St. Clare’s Community. The very talented Mrs Jo Wall has been working on some ideas and the preliminary sketches that I have been lucky enough to see look amazing - so watch this space! A sound system has been installed in Montefalco, we are just waiting for some electrical work to be done, and it will be finalised, ready for the fete in August.

Staffing update

Mrs Jessica Lang will commence her parental leave this term, her last being Friday 13th May, at this stage returning in Term 4. The process to replace Mrs Lang has been underway for quite some time and while the critical shortage of teachers across the state is impacting on this process, I am very hopeful that I will be able to provide news on replacing Mrs Lang for her leave soon.

We are also seeking a grounds/ maintenance person to keep St. Clare’s looking as wonderful as it has under the care of Paul Taylor. This position is for approximately 17 hours per week, days and times are flexible and would suit a keen gardener with some basic maintenance skills. If you are interested, or know someone who may be suitable for this, please contact me for more information.

St. Gerard Committee

The St. Gerard Committee has also been busy, helping to replace the gravel outside the entrance of the Church and getting ready to install some bench seating around the school. I sincerely thank the committee

School Uniform

Just a reminder that our uniform days are:

  • Academic Uniform - Monday, Wednesday & Friday
  • Sports Uniform - Tuesday & Thursday

With the cooler weather approaching please remember to ensure jumpers are labelled clearly with your child's name. Jumpers are frequently left behind. Jumpers worn at school are to be navy.

Hair – Long/shoulder length hair must be tied back or plaited as it discourages headlice and is a recommended practice by Peninsula Health.

Jewellery – One pair of sleepers/studs in ears only. Chains and rings should be kept at home and not be worn to school. Signet rings may be worn. Watches are allowed. A chain with a religious medal/cross is allowed. No other form of jewellery is to be worn.

Hat – A school hat is part of the uniform and must be worn to school each day.

School Photos

Photo envelopes went home last week in preparation for school photos on 16th May. Academic Uniform is to be worn for photos.

Parents & Friends Meeting

Our next Parents & Friends meeting takes place next Monday 9th May commencing at 6pm. All parents are invited to attend our P&F meetings.

Wishing you all the best for the weeks ahead,

Karran Burzacott
