Welcome back to Term 2
I hope all families were able to refresh over the holidays ready for another wonderful term at school. The first half of the term has many sporting events and we continue to pray for fine weather, especially for the Athletics Carnival later this week.
Parent assistance is always greatly appreciated in the classroom and for extra curricular events. Thank you to parents who have already committed to assist this term. Thank you to John Clifford who repainted our car park with parking lines over the holiday period. We can now see where to park!
Staffing update
I will be on leave from Thursday May 23 until the end of the term. I will be participating in a two week study intensive at Leuven University in Belgium, along with 7 other Cairns Diocese delegates. The university course has a focus of Catholic Identity and will incorporate key learning about how we can use the recent survey results for the benefit of our school community. Following that I will be on long service leave for the last three weeks of term. Kath Kennedy will be appointed as Acting Principal during my absence.
Fr Hilary is on leave from this Thursday until June 1st. We pray that his leave brings him renewal and look forward to his return later this term. Fr Kerry Costigan will be relieving during this time and we look forward to welcoming him later this week.
We welcome Jenny Crema to St Clare’s staff for the reminder of the year. She will be working each Wednesday as our Teacher Librarian.
This term we welcome Paula Brumley to our staff for two days a week. Paula will be teaching music to all classes each Monday and will be providing Literacy and Numeracy support to classes on Tuesdays, working with the class teachers.
Earn and Learn
Woolworths Earn and Learn commences this week. Remember to collect your stickers each time you shop at Woolworths. Sticker collection sheets will be sent home with students this week. This program enables us to access valuable resources for our students. Spread the word to your family, friends, neighbours!
- Collect as many stickers as you can between May 1 and June 25
- Stick them to the supplied sticker sheets. You can ask for more from Woolworths or school
- Send your filled sticker sheets into school to go into our collection box at the office
- Spread the word so that others can collect for St Clare’s School
Prep 2020
Interviews with parents and children who will be attending prep in 2020 have commenced. It’s wonderful to meet the younger siblings of current students who are eager to be in prep the following year. If you know of anyone who has a prep aged child for 2020 encourage them to contact the school for a tour or further enrolment information.
Best wishes for a wonderful week ahead,
Narelle Harney
Welcome Community Hospitality
Welcome back to Term Two!
It was wonderful to see all the Children returning to school ready to learn and to celebrate the Easter Season.
During the first week of Term 2, we celebrated a combined Easter and ANZAC Mass and came together on ANZAC Day to march with the Tully community with grateful hearts to thank all those who gave their lives so that we may live in peace and freedom. We pray that we remember that, to live in a peace filled world, each one of must make the choice to be peacemakers. Peace begins with you and me.

Let us pray…
God of Easter joy,
we thank you for the gift of Jesus and the new life he has given us.
May we be inspired to live out this new life in the way we treat each other and be people of hope, people of joy and people of peace.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Welcome to Term 2, just a couple of reminders regarding the Tuckshop:
ALL TUCKSHOP ORDERS ARE TO BE SENT IN EACH THURSDAY. We don’t make a lot of extra food as we don’t want to waste any and it has come to my attention that helpers on the day are getting plenty of late orders. PLEASE have all orders in by Thursday.
Please don’t staple or sticky tape down paper bags and if you have plenty of coin it may help to put the coin in a zip lock bag or wrap in gladwrap because I am finding it is falling out.
Sports Day is THIS FRIDAY, a menu was sent home last week and is also attached to today’s newsletter. All orders are due Thursday as normal, and we would really appreciate any donations of cakes or slices. Also, help on the day is greatly appreciated. We ALL have children competing and we all want to watch them at some stage.
Any issues please let me know and once again thank you so much for supporting our school tuckshop.
