Dear St Clare's Community,
Welcome to Week 4! I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine - we certainly are at St. Clare’s! Term 4 is going full steam ahead with many exciting things happening.
Staff Appreciation Day
On Friday 28th October, we acknowledge and thank all the staff at St. Clare’s for always working towards providing the best possible opportunities for our students. Our teachers, school officers and support staff work extremely hard to make St. Clare’s the amazing community that it is. We will celebrate on Friday with a morning tea, made possible with contributions from our P&F, Catholic Education Services Cairns and St. Clare’s. Thank you St. Clare’s - you are an amazing and very special staff.
Enrolments 2024
While we do not like to see our families leave St. Clare's, we understand that circumstances change and families can relocate and move away. We currently have families on waiting lists across year levels. If your child will not be returning to St. Clare's in 2024, please contact the office as soon as possible.
Seeking New Board Members
We require two Board Members to fill positions being vacated due to families reaching their final year at St. Clare’s. The Board meets once per term and the main focus for the Board is the future direction of St. Clare’s and dealing with policy and procedures. If you are interested in serving on the Board in 2024 please contact me, either by phoning the office or via email - principal.tully@cns.catholic.edu.au
HELP NEEDED!
The P&F hosts our end of year BBQ each year. For the past several years Marie
Vipiana has organised this event. The P&F are seeking a parent to work alongside Marie this year to organise the BBQ and take over the running of it in 2024. This would involve putting an item in the Newsletter to request help on the night and organise a roster for the night, ordering supplies and help setting up on the day.
If you can help, please contact either myself or Marie.
SAVE THE DATE: Sunday 12th November
On behalf of the CYM, an invitation is extended to all to come and celebrate Father Kerry Crowley’s 50th year Anniversary of Ordination, at St. Clare’s Catholic Church, Tully. Mass will be held at 9am, followed by Brunch. Everyone is asked to bring a plate to share (savoury or sweet) for brunch and BYO drinks. Tea and coffee supplied. This will also be an opportunity to hold a reunion of all past members of the CYM, and come together to celebrate and share memories of the past. If anyone has any photos please bring them with you. Please spread the word

This week will see one of the students’ favourite events of the year occur - Mini Fete. This event is traditionally organised and run by our senior students, with all funds raised going to Catholic Missions. This year we will be rolling 3 events into one day on Friday October 27 - Day For Daniel (please wear red), Crazy Sock Day for Socktober (add some crazy socks to that red outfit) and Mini Fete (please bring a
small amount of money and a bag for your goodies). Thank you to those who were able to make donations for this event, we are very appreciative of your support.
St Clare’s is once again supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. We are asking children to bring in non-perishable, long lasting items that will be put towards making up hampers for less fortunate people in our community. Each class has been asked to bring in specific items up until the end of term. This is an opportunity to teach our children about the importance of the gift of giving.
Prep – Tinned/packet soup & Vegetables, puddings, cake or pancake mix, custards
Year 1 – Tinned fruits/ meals including spaghetti, baked beans, tuna
Year 2 – Breakfast cereals, pasta, grains (eg. Rice, cous cous, pasta)
Year 3 – Biscuits (sweet or savoury), muesli bars, fruit mince pies
Year 4 – Lollies, candy canes, Christmas cake/pudding, sauces, bon bons
Year 5 – Hygiene products (Shampoo, Soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste)
Year 6 – Drink (eg. Soft drinks, juice, tea, coffee, long-life milk, cordial)
On Tuesday November 7, we will be holding a Melbourne Cup Hat Parade in the hall. Children are invited to create a hat/headwear at home and come along to show off their masterpiece. As this is a swimming day, we will start the parade at 8.40, with the Year 1 class parading first and then heading straight to the pool. Parents and family members are welcome to attend.
Our parish is in need of new members to be a part of the Pastoral Parish Council. The council meets a few times a year to discuss the needs of our current parish and getting involved is a great way to help out in our community. We are particularly needing parents in our school to please consider attending the next meeting on Thursday November 9 at 4pm in the Good Samaritan room. If you require further information, please contact Fr Joby.
We will gather as a parish community in the church on Wednesday November 1 to recognise All Saints Day. Families and friends are welcome to join us.
With Blessings,
Sharon Chappel
