Dear St. Clare’s Community,
Welcome to the final week of Term 2. With the holidays almost upon us I hope this weather stays and you all get to enjoy some time together.
So much has happened since our last newsletter! A huge thanks to all the students, parents and staff that participated in the Tully 100 Street Parade. It was such a great turn out and we all should be very proud of the wonderful way St. Clare’s was represented. For the staff that helped put it all together - THANK YOU!!! This is just another way the staff at St. Clare’s continuously strive to provide the best experiences for our students.
We also enjoyed the sunshine for our Athletics Carnival. It was fantastic to see the students get involved with great sportsmanship and huge smiles across the carnival. Also, squeezed into last week was Read to Me Day for P-2 and a Questcon visit for the whole school - no wonder we are all feeling a little tired this week.
We have also had the very welcome and long awaited news that a Bishop has been appointed to the Cairns Diocese. Bishop elect Rev. Joe Caddy has been named as the next Bishop of Cairns. His ordination will take place at the Cathedral in Cairns on August 15th.
Recently all schools in the Cairns Diocese have had a safety audit completed, by Playsafe QLD, on their playgrounds. While many of the recommendations are minor and will be attended to quickly, there are a couple of big items on the agenda. The timber fort structure in the Junior Years playground needs to be removed and replaced. The Nature Playground has many timber elements that were installed using untreated timbers and will need to be removed.
Fete organisation is well under way and the Fete Committee are doing a great job sorting out the early stages of preparation. The committee is still looking for some helpers on the night of the Fete. Although it seems like the Fete is a long way off, if you can spare an hour or two on the night please let Marie Vipiana, Jess Kachel or myself know as soon as possible. This means one less job organisers need to worry about in the lead up to Fete. We are looking for 1 more helper on the Chocolate Wheel and 1 more helper in Kiddies Corner.
Again over the last 2 weeks I have had a number of students ‘sent to the Principal’s office’. It is the highlight of my day to share in the successes of our students.
Blessings for a happy and safe break over the coming weeks.

This week I had the pleasure of accompanying the Year 6 class on their excursion to the Tully Nursing Home to join some of the residents in playing Bingo. One of the important values that children of St Clare’s are exposed to is to serve others. This trip was such a great example of the kind and caring approach that our students have for others in our community. There were lots of smiles, chatter and a few lucky winners along the way. Our students thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the residents and have found a new love of Bingo.
The Tully 100 celebrations brought such a positive buzz of excitement to our town last week. I would like to take this opportunity to advise that St Clare’s School will celebrate our own centenary in 2028. Please help to spread the word to any of our past and present families.
With Blessings,
