Faith Knowledge Community Respect
There has been a spike in the number of mosquitoes around our school at the moment after all the rain. We highly recommend that students apply repellent before coming to school each day. If your child does bring repellent to school, please ensure it is not in aerosol form.
ANZAC Day
St Clare’s will be marching together for ANZAC Day on Friday April 25. We will gather at the front of Mitre 10 at 9.30am. Students are kindly asked to wear their formal uniform, school hat, normal school shoes, and bring a water bottle. If it is raining, please send a raincoat in with your child. No umbrellas please.
Project Compassion
We have had an extremely successful 4 weeks of fundraising for Project Compassion. Between Shrove Tuesday pancakes, St Patrick’s Day, hot chips, icy cups and donations to classroom money boxes, our school has raised over $1 600. This is a great achievement for a school of our size so thank you to all who have supported this charity in any way.
Stations of the Cross
As we move towards Easter, our school will once again gather to acknowledge the Stations of the Cross. This year, we will be led by our Year 1 class, who will remind us of each step that Jesus took towards his death, and then resurrection. This will take place this Friday morning at 8.40 in the hall. All are welcome to join us for assembly afterwards.
With Blessings,

Here is a little quote to think about each day and inspire your children with.

Yours in Counselling,
Sharon Scouller
The Cassowary Coast Touch Football Gala Day is on this Thursday 3rd April. St Clare’s P & F runs the canteen at the High School. This is a very big Tuckshop day therefore there will be NO tuckshop the day after at St Clare’s (4th April, last day of the term)
A huge thank you to those parents that have volunteered to help in the canteen, the roster is attached to this Newsletter.
We are also chasing donations of cupcakes/slices to sell at the carnival. These can be brought to St Clare’s on Wednesday 2nd April or straight to the carnival on Thursday 3rd. We will be set up in the Millside Café at the High School.
If you require any further information please let me know.

NO TUCKSHOP
Cross Country
After a very wet start to the year, the weather was on our side for our annual Cross Country event. Despite a few changes, including a reversal of the course, each house was well represented and it was fabulous to see so many children giving the race their all. Congratulations to Cooby house for taking out the winning team and to the following age champions:
5 years - Cora McNamara & Lain Trickey
6 years - Zendaya Noonan & Adrian Nucifora
7 years - Layla Flegler & Julian Barra
8 years - Nylah Johnson & Emmett Grimaz
9 years - Ashlyn Walters & Emmett Frumento
10 years - Alice Parsons & Tarique Noonan
11 years - Madison Clifford & Billy Johnston
12 years - Shiloh Spencer & Kade Murphy
Students aged 10-12 years who placed in the top 3 of their age group are now able to attend the Cassowary Coast trials at Warrina Lakes on Friday May 2. Parent Slips have been sent out to eligible children.
Netball
Kade Murphy and Kace Hodgson travelled to Cairns last Wednesday to represent the Cassowary Coast team in Boys’ Netball. Both boys were selected to participate in the Possibles vs Probables game with Kade being selected for the Peninsula team. Well done, boys!
Touch Gala Day
St Clare’s will be convening the annual District Touch Gala Day this Thursday. Interested students from Years 4 to 6 will be heading to the Tully State High School grounds to compete against other local schools. This day will also serve as a selection for the 10-12 year olds Southern Zone Touch Football team. Thank you to Mrs Jenkins for the organisation of this day and to those who are assisting with line marking, field and venue set up, transportation, managing teams, donating baked goods and helping Mrs Vipiana out in the canteen. We appreciate the support from our school community to make this day a success for children in our region. More detailed information regarding this day can be found in the recent Seesaw message sent out and the draw and field map are also attached.
Rugby Union Trials
A Seesaw message was sent out last week for 11 and 12 year olds who are interested in trialing for Rugby Union. No game experience is required and 10 year olds in Year 5 may be considered. Trials will be held at Callendar Park (Innisfail) on Wednesday April 23 from 3.30pm-5pm. If attending, your child will need a change of clothes, mouth guard, boots and completed Peninsula paperwork.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much time does the program take?
Our Primary program has 30 lessons per year level which are designed to run for 60 minutes.
What does the program look like in the classroom? What will my child be doing?
Your child(ren) will complete a variety of activities that introduce them to The Resilience Project’s key principles of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy. The activities will give them a chance to practise these concepts, individually and in groups. Students will be encouraged to develop positive wellbeing habits by practising these concepts on a regular basis outside of their TRP lessons.
How can I get involved and support my child?
We know that parents and carers often prioritise the health and wellbeing of others before their own. It’s really important to practise regular self-care and our positive mental health strategies are applicable to people of all ages. You can play a big role in supporting the development of positive wellbeing habits at home by checking out the Parents and Carers page on our website.
Regular gratitude practices have been proven to increase the amount of positives you notice in your day. The Resilience Project 21 Day, 6 Month and Family Journals are a great way to do this and are available through their online shop.
The Resilience Project app is another convenient way to regularly practise the GEM+EL principles and is available on iTunes and Google Play.
The Imperfects podcast, hosted by Hugh van Cuylenburg, Ryan Shelton and Josh van Cuylenburg, celebrates just how imperfectly perfect we all are. Together, they chat to a variety of people who bravely share their struggles and imperfections alongside valuable learnings we can apply to our own lives and use to support the teachings of TRP in the classroom. Guests include Nathan Buckley, Grace Tame, Jack Steele, Zane Rowe, Michael Klim, Billy Slater, Lael Stone, Pat Cummins, Tim Minchin and many more.
We encourage you to have conversations with your kids about the program and how they are integrating gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional literacy into their lives. Embedding positive mental health practices and language across school and the home lead to greater benefits and understanding.
