Dear St. Clare’s Community,
This week Sharon Chappel and I will be attending the Australian Catholic Education Conference. National Catholic Education Commission is partnering with host diocese, Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns to offer an engaging professional learning experience for an anticipated 1,500 Catholic educators, leaders, clergy, parents and others from the broader Church involved in Catholic education.
With the theme ‘hope, anchored in faith’, the conference will focus on the strategic vision and mission of Catholic education across three key areas – Faith, Excellence and Access. The conference will feature a broad range of speakers, presentations and workshops focused on Catholic identity, mission and formation; learning and teaching; leadership and governance; parent engagement; parish and community engagement; resourcing and infrastructure; advocacy and marketing; and more.
A gentle reminder for students on buses. If you have any changes for the bus, please ring through to the office with these messages before 2:30pm. The bus roll for each day is generated by the office and classroom teachers are then notified of these changes. We ask that you do not message teachers for bus changes. The reason for this is they may get missed during the teaching day. Or if your child’s teacher happens to be away, a relief teacher will not receive the message.
Sent to Principal’s Office
Once again I have been fortunate to see some amazing examples of student learning. A huge thanks to our wonderful staff for providing engaging activities and support for our students. Also, hats off to all the students of St. Clare’s - you truly try your best in learning - well done!
A reminder that Friday 5th September is a pupil free day. All staff will be participating in professional development for the day.
Blessings for the week ahead

One of the things that we love about The Resilience Project at St Clare’s are GEM Chats! GEM Chats are prompted around the idea of expressing examples of Gratitude, Empathy or Mindfulness in our daily life and encourages us to think about how our actions can make ourselves and others feel!
Parents and carers play an important role in helping children to develop digital intelligence — the social, emotional and practical skills needed to successfully navigate the digital world.
Even for preschool children, it is never too early to instil good habits, and as your child gets older it is useful to keep reminding them of these basic digital intelligence principles: respect, empathy, critical thinking, responsible behaviour and resilience. These are also principles you can emphasise with your child when things go wrong. For more information, please visit the esafety website.
Congratulations to the athletes who participated in the Cassowary Coast Southern Zone Athletics Carnival recently. St Clare’s had great success with many place getters, winning the A Grade School’s Relay shield and most importantly, students who showed up and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and resilience throughout the day. A notable mention must go to our Age Champions:
9 years girl - Charlie La Fauci
9 years boy - Emmett Frumento
10 years boy - Tarique Noonan
Many of our athletes will now go on to compete in the Peninsula Track & Field trials at Barlow park this weekend. Congratulations to the following students who qualified to be a part of the Cassowary Coast team: Jackson, Louisa, Billy J, Billy M, Tarique, Evie, Eva, Aiden, Addisyn, Alice and Eddie, Quinn, Jaxon.
Touch Football
Congratulations to Kade who has just returned from the State Championships for Touch Football which were held in Roma.
Cricket
Our Year 2 to 6 students will be enjoying learning new cricket skills in their PE lessons over the next few weeks. Trish Spry from Cricket Queensland will be coming in over the next few weeks to work with our students. Thank you to Jake Robertson from Tully Cricket for supporting this initiative at St Clare’s.
Ken Hamill Cup
The most anticipated Rugby League game of the year is almost here! If you are free on Saturday August 30 at 5pm, please head to the Tully Showgrounds to show your support for our Years 5 and 6 players who will battle it out against Tully State School. After last year’s draw between the schools, it is sure to be a fantastic event.

TUCKSHOP NEWS:
We have recently had a few children who are assuming tuckshop has been ordered for them and it hasn’t gone through. Can I kindly ask to please check that you receive a confirmation email when placing an order. Also can parents please check that your child is ordering for the correct date when placing the order.
You will also notice that Fried Rice is no longer available on the Tuckshop Menu. It just wasn’t viable to keep supplying it when we didn’t have many weekly orders. I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Grace Parsons who has been making our yummy Fried Rice over the past few years. If you would like to see something new on the menu please let me know.
Thanks Marie Vipiana

Fete Rides
Pre-purchase of tickets are available now! Order forms have been sent home with students. If you need another one they are available from the office.

There will be 3 rides this year: the Monkey Mayhem Super Slide, a massive Jurassic Jungle jumping castle and Bungee Run, so something for everyone!
There will be 3 one hour sessions available with unlimited rides. Wristbands can be purchased for either a one hour time slot or for the entire 3 hours. These rides will be supervised by staff from Barrier Reef Jumping Castles to ensure children get the most turns possible during their time slot. Staff from St. Clare’s will also be on hand to sell wristbands and monitor each session.
Single Ride tickets are not available.
Sessions will be $25 per hour, or all 3 hours for $50. There will be a limited number of wristbands sold for each session. An order form for wristband pre-purchase will go home shortly and will be cash only. Order forms can be returned in an envelope with the correct money and wristbands will be available for collection from the office. A Seesaw message will be sent to parents when your wristbands are ready for collection. Lost wristbands will not be replaced and are the responsibility of the purchaser once collected.
If you know of any friends or family that are not currently students, and may want to purchase tickets, you can either add them to your order, or let them know to come to the office if they would like to pre-purchase.
If you want to wait and see what the rides look like, limited tickets will be available on the night of the Fete. If you need any further information email Karran: principal.tully@cns.catholic.edu.au
