Dear Parents, Staff and Students
We had a wonderful celebration for our Feast Day last Friday. Mass at Holy Spirit Church was a beautiful start to the day. We thank Fr Hilary for celebrating with us. A special thank you to Kath Kennedy for preparing the mass. The remainder of the day at the beach was a great celebration of how special our school is and what wonderful students we have. Students thoroughly enjoyed all activities they participated in, especially the Splash Pad. Thank you to all staff for a wonderful day of celebration with their classes. Special thanks to leadership staff, parents and our School Captains who assisted with morning tea and lunch. It was lovely to have many parents join us during the day.
Later this week the Yr 5 students will be away at camp. They are going to the Daradgee Environmental Education Centre. We wish them a wonderful experience over the three days. I will be joining them Thursday afternoon and night for activities.
Recently the teaching staff gathered to assess how we have travelled this year with our School Annual Improvement Plan. Our two main focus areas have been on Writing and the Religion Curriculum with a focus on pedagogical practices. I am happy to report that we have made a lot of progress in both of these areas and will continue to focus on them over the next few years. We now need to develop our plan for next year which will include continuing with our current focus areas and other identified goals.
Our Annual School Fete is getting closer!!
Many hands make light work and your involvement is appreciated by our school community. Please check the P & F news to see if further assistance is needed to help run stalls on the night. Our fete coordinators have been working tirelessly behind the scenes in preparation of what will no doubt be another fantastic community event.
Staffing update
Teaching positions available for 2020 are currently advertised and a formal process of interviews will take place in coming weeks. St Clare’s has advertised for two full time teaching positions (one permanent and one contract) and a HPE teacher for 18 hrs/week.
Lucy Wells, who has been on leave without pay during 2019, has resigned her position. We wish Lucy and her family all the best for their future in Townsville. Kaitlyn Marsilio and Cherie Jenkins will be working in part time class positions supporting the roles of Kath Kennedy (APRE) and Chris Edwards CST). Confirmation of share partners will be done in term four. Further information regarding who will be teaching which year levels in 2020 will be advised later in the year when decisions have been made.
Best wishes for the week ahead,
Narelle Harney

Celebrating our Feast of St Clare of Montefalco at Wongaling Beach
Thank you to all families who were be able to join us in sharing the joy and excitement of our St Clare’s Feast Day at the beach on Friday. Even though the weather wasn’t the best, everyone shared in the Mass and enjoyed the activities on the beach and the Splash Pad. Thanks to our wonderful P & F who fed everyone at lunch with a delicious sausage sizzle.
Sacramental Program:
We had a very successful Confirmation and First Eucharist preparation day on Sunday. Thank you to our candidates and their parents for their commitment and support of this important event in the continued development of their child’s faith formation. Thank you also to Tania Gilbert who generously gives of her time to facilitate the Sacramental Program.

This week, the Sacrament of Confirmation will be held at St Clare’s Church at 6pm on Friday and the Sacrament of the First Eucharist on Sunday morning at 9am. We warmly invite members of the school and parish community to join us in celebrating these important events. Let us keep the sacramental candidates in our prayers.
PRAYER FOR CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES:
Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people,
so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent.
Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice.
Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfilment the good work that You have begun in them.
As we prepare these children for Confirmation, make each of us an instrument of Your love.
Teach us to appreciate what is holy in others, and to be patient with what we do not understand.
Deepen our faith in the Gospel and help us to pass it on by our example.
We pray that You will continue to guide us and sustain us.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Fete Update No.6
Hello, Fete countdown has begun, 19 days to go.
Teachers and Students have been busily preparing fete dancers and costumes. Thank you to the parent helpers and school officers that also have been helping with the fete dancers. The student performances play a huge part in the night’s entertainment and we all can’t wait to see the children dance.
Cake Stall: Today was the last day of Cake Stall Preparation, thank you to everyone who has come in over the past 6 weeks to help. All Presale has now finished and items will now only be able to be purchased the night of the fete. We also rely on donations of fete baking for the night of the fete. We would love slices, cakes, biscuits and/or cupcakes. These can be dropped off the day before the fete or the morning of, to the tuckshop. If you would like trays to put any baking on please pop into the tuckshop on a Friday morning. You can price your own items or we can do that on the day. Please label your items with what the sweets are.
Thank you to the following helpers that have given their time over the past 6 weeks and in the school holidays to the Cake Stall. Maree Apap, Catherine Aspinall, Lyn Armson, Charlotte Bowden, Tracey Brunello, Cathy Cavallaro, Tammy Condon, Narelle Colombini, Carmel Dore, Julie-ann Dore, Gina Durighello, Stephanie Grimaz, Jacqui Horniblow, Denise Harris, Carmel Silvestro, Marie Vipiana and Margaret Xiberras, Without you ladies we would not have been able to make the amounts we did, so thank you very much for giving up your time.
