Dear Parents, Staff and Students
As we come to the close of another school term we all look back at the wonderful experiences our students have had this term, both academically and extra-curricular. Thank you to all staff and parents who have assisted in allowing all this to happen for the benefit of our students. To all staff, students and families I wish you a wonderful spring vacation. Term Four commences on Tuesday October 8th.
This week our Yr 5 & 6 students compete in the Cricket T20 competition in Tully on Wednesday and Mary Mills Netball and Jim Graham Football in Cairns on Friday. Thank you to all parents who are assisting with transport for these events and helping with managing teams. We wish our students a great experience and the best of luck on the two days.
Our P-2 students are excited about their U8’s day this Friday and staff are busy getting ready for fun activities and some outdoor challenges.
Our Fete on Saturday September 7th was once again a wonderful testament to the community we live in. Our students were the focus at the commencement of the night with their amazing dance performances. We thank our staff and parents who prepare our students for the performances leading up to the fete.
Food was in plentiful supply and the prizes were of the highest quality. A special thank you to our Fete Convenors (Kylie, Cheryl, Marie, Jane and Alice), and our P & F Executive (Andrew, John, Kate and Vanessa), along with all those who convened and volunteered on stalls. Your help leading up to the fete and on the night is what allows the night to run so successfully.
This week we have a few teachers on leave and I thank the dedicated and capable teachers who are replacing them. Please liaise directly with them for any student matters or contact the office to pass on a message.
Enjoy the vacation period and your valued family time.

Welcome Community Hospitality
The Spirit of St Clare’s was given the opportunity to shine once again during our Fete last Saturday. We are thankful for the united efforts of the school community to put together an event which harnesses our Charism of Welcome, Community and Hospitality!
International Day of Peace
This coming Sunday is International Day of Peace with the 2019 theme being ‘Climate Action for Peace’. Taking immediate action to address climate change is one way of protecting and promoting world peace.
Let us pray:
God of green and vibrant growing,
you call us to care for the earth and make it a place of peace.
May we listen deeply to the cry of earth and act for climate change
so that our beautiful earth may continue to sustain herself and all her people may live in harmony and freedom.
We pray in the name of Jesus,
who walked on the earth and now lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever.
Amen.

On Friday, 25th October students will be invited to wear a red shirt in recognition of ‘Day for Daniel’ and this day also recognises the important work of teachers, with ‘World Teacher’s Day’ being celebrated.
On Monday, 28th October you are invited to join us in celebrating a Whole School Reconciliation liturgy at 9am in St Clare’s Church.
Thank you all for helping contribute to a successful Term 3 and may the Grace of God be with you throughout the upcoming school holidays.

Additional parental assistance and involvement is always welcome and appreciated. Please email cjenkins@cns.catholic.edu.au if you are interested in assisting. It is preferred that parents are available to commit to the same time-slot each week for consistency.

Fete News!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
To the students, thank you so much for the wonderful dancing that your classes put on, everyone put in so much effort and you all should be very proud of yourselves. To those who entered the colouring competition thank you very much and congratulations to all the winners and runners up. A special thanks to Mrs Korma Byrnes for being the judge.
To the Staff of St Clare’s, thank you so much for your dedication and involvement in the 2019 Fete. We are lucky to have such wonderful heads of the school, teachers, school officers and office administration. Thank you also to the staff that helped out on stalls the night of the fete, setting up and packing up.
To the parents of St Clare’s, this fete would not have been possible without you. Everyone is part of the P&F, and that is something we all must remember. This was evident with all the tremendous help we had before, during and after the fete. Thank you to those parents who gave up so much of their time to help. To our outgoing parents who finish at St Clare’s this year I know for a fact a lot of you have given so many years of dedication to our school fetes and we will miss you guys next year, but we look forward to seeing new families step up and help out.
To those businesses that donated prizes or cash donations, local and away, thank you so much. Without your kindness and generosity we would not have been able to have the raffles and 100 prizes in our cent sale. Sponsorship also helped pay for advertising and other expenses. As a community we must shop locally and support those who support us.
If you would like to be involved next year we look forward to seeing you at the P&F Meetings.
Thank you again,
2019 Fete Committee.
