Dear Parents, Staff and Students
Day for Daniel
Last Friday, St Clare’s was a sea of red, thanks to everyone who supported ‘Day for Daniel’. The Danial Morcombe Foundation supports important children safety education through school visits and the development of their curriculum program to raise awareness for child safety, protection and prevention.
LOUD Shirt Day
LOUD Shirt Day, which took place on Friday, 18th October was well supported by staff and students wearing their loudest clothes and raising approximately $440 for Hear and Say.
NAIDOC celebrations in Week 2
We held some special NAIDOC activities on Wednesday of Week 2 with the help and support of members of the Girrigun Aboriginal Corporation. Students enjoyed learning about native plants, their uses and significance and learned about different Aboriginal art, before having an opportunity to paint their own small rock. The rocks will now be arranged as a special rock garden beside the tuckshop. The school came together during the final session of the day to celebrate a prayer liturgy and to thank our guests for kindly offering to share their time and knowledge with us.
World Teacher’s Day
World Teacher’s Day was celebrated last Friday. This day we celebrate every year on the last Friday of October to express our gratitude for the dedication and tireless effort our staff contribute towards providing high quality teaching and learning opportunities at St Clare’s. I ask you to join me in saying thank you to our staff who are truly dedicated to and take great pride in their vocation of educating and nurturing our young people.
Thank you to the P & F for organising the delicious treats for morning tea.
We pray…
Generous God, you gave us Jesus who was always open to the action of the Spirit in his life. Give our teachers open hearts and minds so that they will be aware of the Spirit working with them and through them in the work they do. May they be models of understanding, compassion and justice to all those they teach. We ask this prayer in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
Sports Awards

Melbourne Cup Hat Parade
A reminder that next Tuesday, 5th November we will have our annual Melbourne Cup Hat Parade where students are invited to make a hat celebrating the Melbourne Cup. Prizes for each class will be awarded, so join in the fun and get creating…recycled materials are great for these activities!
This is not a free dress day, just an opportunity to show case your creative skills by wearing your hat on parade.
St Clare’s Parish Community Events
Everyone is invited to the following events supporting the wider church community of St Clare’s.
This coming Friday, 1st November is All Saint’s Day with a Mass being celebrated at St Clare’s Church at 5:30pm. All are welcome.
On Saturday, 9th November the annual Mass at the Tully Old Cemetery will be held at 8am to remember our departed loved ones. All are welcome and are asked to bring your own chair and umbrella/hat/sun lotion with you.
New School Phone Number
Due to a Diocesan upgrade of phone systems many schools have been assigned new phone numbers. St Clare’s phone number is now 07 40659550. It is suggested you change the number in your contact addresses now as it is already active. Once our system is fully integrated you will notice a difference in the caller ID number when you are contacted by the school. This will occur in a few weeks’ time. There will be a changeover period where the old number will continue to work.
Narelle is currently on leave and will return to school on Monday 4th November. For any important matters during this time please contact me at the school or by email kkennedy1@cns.catholic.edu.au.
May the Grace of God be with you,
Kath Kennedy
