Dear Parents, Staff and Students
This week is Wellbeing Week. It is a time to stop and take a breath and reflect on all that is good in our lives. Students (and parents) have the week off from written homework. Wellbeing of all students is a central focus of our Catholic Schools. Wellbeing is a hot topic at the moment and we will do all that is possible to keep you updated in coming months regarding the current health situation in Australia. Please refer to the official buttons available on our school website and in the parent portal for information about Coronavirus.
You may also receive emails or messages from CES or myself directly. We have already put many strategies into place at school as of today and assembly this Friday has been cancelled. Further information will be sent to families soon.
In the midst of what is happening we all need to continue to support those around us in uncertain times. Many things will be cancelled and we will deal with that.
But hope will not be cancelled.
Conversations will not be cancelled.
Friendship will not be cancelled.
Gardening will not be cancelled.
Watching the moonlight filter through the trees will not be cancelled.
Love will not be cancelled.
Music will not be cancelled.
Reading will not be cancelled.
Self-care will not be cancelled.
Prayer will not be cancelled.
Laughter will not be cancelled.
And lifting one another’s spirits will not be cancelled.
May we lean into the good stuff that remains. (Taken from Terry Hershey’s ‘Sabbath Moments” March 16 2020)
Go gently in the weeks ahead.
Project Compassion
Thank you to the students and families who have already donated to the Project Compassion appeal this Lent. Your donations make a difference to families in Australia and other countries, enabling improved lives for many.
Lent offers us all a very special opportunity to grow in our relationship with God. In our busy world, Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon our patterns, to pray more deeply, experience sorrow for what we have done or failed to do, and to be generous to those in need.
Thank you to all families who supported our St Patrick’s Day activities today.
NAPLAN Practice Test
Leading up to NAPLAN each year students are always involved in practice tests. Due to our students doing testing ONLINE we will be participating in an online practice test along with most other students state wide. This will occur on Monday March 23rd and will involve both the Yr 3 and Yr 5 classes. This will allow students to experience the online environment and for us to ensure our devices are ready for the May testing.
The schedule for testing in May will be communicated to parents early in Term Two.
Best wishes for the week ahead,
Narelle Harney

Our Lenten Journey – Third Week of Lent
In the fourth week of Lent, we focus on the light of the candle. Christ, our Light, shines in the darkness of the world - in places where there is need or pain or suffering. Today, we bless the darkness of the world with the Light of Christ.
Light for the Journey,
Your Word is a lamp for our feet and a guiding light for our path.
Open our minds, illumine our hearts,
that we may see your love’s glow in all we meet,
and that even in the dark, we may trust your light to shine ...
May your light bring us clarity of vision, peace of mind,
and courage to act justly in our world.
We ask this prayer through your Son, Jesus Christ,
who is the Light of the world.
Amen.
St Patrick’s Day (Green Frozen Cup and Wear Green for a Gold Coin fundraiser for Project Compassion)
In celebration of St Patrick’s Day, a group of Year 6s have helped plan and organise a fundraiser for today. Students were invited to wear green to celebrate St Patrick’s Day for the cost of a gold coin donation.
Project Compassion Boxes
Students in each class are invited each week to bring in their collection box, before adding the money they have collected to the classroom collection box. The class boxes will be each Friday. Thank you for your continued support for Project Compassion.
Multicultural Day postponed to NAIDOC Week celebrations
Due to the number of fundraising events being held this term, our proposed Multicultural Day will now be postponed to NAIDOC week, later in the year.
May the Grace of God be with you,
Kath Kennedy

Look forward to seeing you there.
