Dear Parents and Carers,
St Clare’s Feast Day
Yesterday we held a lovely liturgy with students and staff to celebrate our school feast day. Fr Hilary presided and many students assisted in various roles during the liturgy. At morning tea, students enjoyed sharing and eating our special cake. During the middle session, classes joined together for some fun ‘feast day activities’.

Assembly this week
Parents are invited to attend assembly from this Friday. All adults who are not school staff will need to be seated in specific areas and our school leaders will guide you on the day. If you arrive before 8:40am please wait under the school (with physical distancing) until the bell has gone and students have moved to classrooms. Once you walk around past the tuckshop you will be asked to sign in and sanitise your hands and shown where you are able to sit. Please observe physical distancing when seated. We appreciate your support in the practices we need to follow due to COVID-19.
Pupil Free Day
Please remember that Friday September 4th is a pupil free day. All of our staff will be off site that day for professional learning.
Parent Teacher Interviews
PTO information was sent home last week regarding parent teacher interviews in either Week 6 or 7. Please ensure you go online and book in for a time before this Friday at 3pm as the system will close at this time. Teachers will also need to keep attendance registers for interviews.
Fee account update
St Clare’s School will soon release an update to our accounts system which will result in the term fee statements, invoices and receipts being emailed to each Account Holder where there is joint and several fee responsibility. The fee statement will be emailed to the email address that the school holds for each account holder.
Please ensure the schools holds your most current email address and contact the school finance staff if you have any queries.
Long Service Leave
I will be on leave from next Friday 28th until the start of Week 9. During my absence the leadership team will be delegated all school responsibilities (Kath Kennedy, Chris Edwards and Helen Andrews).
Best wishes for the week ahead,
Narelle Harney
Welcome Community Hospitality

Feast of St Clare of Montefalco - Monday, 17th August
Yesterday, our school community celebrated a special Prayer and Blessing ceremony in the Montefalco at 9am with Fr. Hilary presiding. It was a beautiful occasion with students engaging in the processions, prayers and singing. A video of the event has been uploaded to our school facebook page with a special thanks to Mrs Andrews for helping organise the celebration in Mrs Kennedy’s absence. Later in the day, classes gathered together to participate in further activities to celebrate the Feast Day. The St. Clare’s School Prayer below is a prayer which has been shared with all classes and prayed with everyone present yesterday. It symbolises the charism of our beautiful school:
St. Clare’s School Prayer
God our creator,
We give praise and thanks for –
our families, our school
and parish community
and the beauty of our world.
Help us to continue to learn,
grow and pray as we spread
the flame of faith just as St Clare did.
Let us show Welcome, Community and Hospitality
to all who enter our school.
Show us how to make St Clare’s a happy place,
where learning is important,
and living the way that Jesus taught us
is what really counts.
We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Each year the Cairns Catholic Diocese has awards to acknowledge outstanding contributions by staff and supporters of Catholic Education. In recognition of the service of Tom Doolan 1993-2002 (a past Executive Director), these awards are called the Docemus Awards. Docemus means ‘to teach’. These awards are awarded to staff and volunteers in the Cairns Diocese.
St. Clare’s School, Tully, nominated Nancy Marsilio for the ‘Volunteer’ category this year. Nancy was invited in for a special morning tea with staff on Monday August 10. She was presented with her nomination certificate and thanked for her ongoing support of St Clare’s School.
Congratulations Nancy!
