Dear Parents and Carers,
This week is Wellbeing week. It’s amazing how fast the term goes when you are busy. Take the time to do something different with your family this week. It is a week to refresh together without the demands of written homework.
Please remember that this Friday is a Pupil Free day – September 4th.
Welcome Fr Kerry Costigan
We welcome Fr Kerry once again to our wonderful town. He will be with us for the remainder of this term while Fr Hilary is on leave. Fr Kerry loves visiting classes and is booked in for this week. We hope he enjoys his stay in Tully.
Nature Playground open to students
Squeals of delight could be heard as each class explored the new nature playground last Tuesday for the first time. It is a popular place to be at lunchtime every day.
Special thanks to Shane Gee and his crew at G-Force Landscaping for making a dream come to reality.
We will have an official opening and blessing at a later date.

Father’s Day – Sept 6th
This weekend we celebrate and give thanks for fathers and father-like figures in our lives. Leading up to the weekend, take some time to reflect on the love and lessons your own fathers have given you and give thanks for their presence in your life. We wish all Father’s a wonderful day on Sunday!
A Father’s Day Prayer
God,
Bless all the fathers in the world.
We ask that You guide them to be good role models and loving to their families.
We also ask that You help them to be a father like You are.
Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.
We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Next week is Child Protection Week
This year National Child Protection Week will celebrate its 30th year with the theme: Putting children first…
‘Putting children first’ was front of mind when the National Child Protection Week campaign was launched in 1990, with the aim of bringing abuse and neglect out of the shadows and putting child wellbeing on the national agenda.
Since then, the need to put children first has been recognised time and time again as an important pillar for boosting the wellbeing of all children in Australia.
We take the opportunity to reflect on the important role we play in keeping all children safe. We pray for the young victims of any form of harm, that they may be loved, cared for and supported on their life’s journey. Child Protection is everyone’s responsibility and we have a responsibility to teach our children how to be safe in a variety of circumstances. We use the Daniel Morcombe program as a stimulus for teaching our children important lessons around personal safety. Together we can keep your children safe.
St Clare’s Student Protection Contacts are : Narelle Harney, Kath Kennedy and Helen Andrews.
Prep Transition Program Term 4
Families who have a child enrolled in Prep 2021 should have received a letter about the transition program last week. If you have not received the information please contact the office to get another copy sent to you.
Please remember that term three finishes on Friday September 18th. We will resume for our fourth term after the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Term 4 commences on Tuesday October 6th.
Best wishes for the week ahead,
Narelle Harney
Under 8’s Day 2020
We are celebrating Under 8’s day on Wednesday 16th September for the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students. The theme for 2020 is Nature Play so this presents a fantastic opportunity to take part in all sorts of exciting nature play and outdoor learning activities, to get our students active and engaged.
Children can come to school in free dress for the day. They will be involved in many nature based activities and will compete in running races and ballgames with Mr Russell during the day as well. Students are to bring in their school lunchbox as per usual.
We are encouraging students in Prep, Year 1 and 2 to bring to school any of the following items that can be used in our activities for the day:
- Shells
- Bark
- Gumnuts or seeds
- Feathers
- Leaves – green or brown
- Seed pods
- Pinecones
Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
