Dear Parents and Carers,
October is the month of the Rosary which is a meditation on the life of Jesus and Mary and was developed as a breathing prayer. The name rosary comes from the Latin word rosarium which means “rose garden”. In the Middle Ages, Mary was often called “Rose” and the name eventually became rosary. In modern times Popes have encouraged Catholics to pray the Rosary. It is a form of contemplative prayer, mental and vocal prayer, which brings God’s blessings on the Church.
This weekend we mark 10 years since the canonisation of Mary MacKillop (17.10.2010). St Mary of the Cross, of Scottish descent, was born in Melbourne but is best known for her activities in South Australia. Mary loved to teach and educate children and is an inspiration for all educators today.
St Mary of the Cross, Pray for us.
Swimming Program
Our swimming program commenced today and there have been many happy faces returning from the pool after their first session. Please remember to send in the required items each week on your child’s swimming day. (Wednesday Yr 5 & 6, Friday Prep to Yr 4).
Prep Transition
This morning we welcomed many excited children to our first day of Prep Transition for Prep 2021. We will be running a 5 week program led by Ms Gita Sima and Mrs Pauline Colombini (Teacher Aide). We all look forward to 2021 prep students visiting each week.
Staffing Update
Last week we welcomed our new part time Yr 4 teacher, Lydia Valeriano.
This week we welcome Jamilla Dressler who will be teaching Drama each Tuesday to all classes.
Teaching positions for 2021 are still being finalised and we have readvertised our APRE position.
School Review
Yesterday we had some visitors to our school for our 5 year school review. This is a process all schools go through to maintain their accreditation. Conversations yesterday centred around processes and compliance at St Clare’s School. A further part of our review focussing on the School Effectiveness Framework will not be completed until 2021.
St Gerard Feast Day
Due to Covid-19 this year, the St. Gerard Committee have decided to cancel the Feast of St. Gerard Celebrations. The Committee has decided to celebrate just a Mass for the Feast of St. Gerard on Saturday 17th October at St.Clare’s Church beginning at 2.30pm. Please contact the parish office for further information.
Best wishes for the week ahead,
Narelle Harney

I’m still unable to buy Frozen Yogurt as the Bulla Warehouse is still closed due to COVID , I have been informed we should see them buy the beginning of November so until I advise that we have them in stock Frozen Yoghurts are off the Menu.
I have tried to source something similar but have had no luck.

TUCKSHOP ROSTER - Term 4

Friday 23/10/2020 -
Friday 30/10/2020 -
Hello Parents.
Welcome back to term 4.
We have a few things happening this term.
The P&F each year support the wet play day for all the children in the school, more details will be provided closer to end of term
- The end of year BBQ and celebrations are supported by the P&F, and this year may have to look a little different, we are in the process of working this out, and when we have more details, we will let you know.
- We have received some exciting news from Tully Canegrowers Mitre 10 & Tigers Leagues Club! They have teamed up together to run a major promotion to assist schools in the district with fundraising during COVID-19 restrictions. Tully Canegrowers Mitre 10 are donating 35 prizes for a major raffle to be run by the Tigers Leagues club. Tickets will be $5 each, and we will be issuing sheets of 10 tickets to each family in the school. We at St Clare’s P&F will receive all proceeds of those tickets sold. In the next week, your child will be bringing home a letter in regards to this, with your tickets attached. Please look out for them. All tickets need to be accounted for, so if you are unable to sell them, please return them to the office. The more tickets we sell, the bigger the donation to our P&F. Thank you to these local businesses supporting our school community.
We would also like to thank a few other local businesses who have also donated to our school this year, even though fundraising has been limited.
Thank you to:
- Agape Family Dental
- Tully Sugar
- LiveLife Pharmacy Tully
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 20th October at 7pm, we hope you are able to make it!
Enjoy the rest of your week.
