- Community News
Dear St Clare's Community,
I am overwhelmed and extremely humbled by the number of you that have taken the time to offer your congratulations on my appointment to the role of Principal. I very much look forward to staying on at St. Clare’s and working with the students, parents and staff that make this such a great community.
Heart of St. Clare’s
You may have noticed that a sculpture has been added to the garden. The Heart of St. Clare’s icon has been created to commemorate our namesake. During her last
days, St. Clare of Montefalco, revealed that in her heart she carried the impression of the Cross of Christ. After her death her sisters were anxious to verify the truth of her assertions, and when her heart was examined, it was found to depict symbols of the passion of Christ.
A very special and gratitude filled thank you to Garry O’Kane who brought this concept to life. The Heart of St. Clare’s icon truly captures the spirit of St. Clare’s that we hold deep in our hearts. In the coming weeks, we will have Fr. Joby bless this new addition.
World Teacher's Day
Friday 29th October is World Teacher's Day. I would like to acknowledge and thank all the staff at St. Clare’s for always working towards providing the best possible opportunities for our students.
Thank you Teitzel’s IGA Tully
A huge thank you to Teitzel’s Iga Tully Community Chest for sending through $335 to the school. This is a wonderful initiative and we also thank the members of the community for their support.
Swimming
We have been advised that there are further delays in the re-opening of the Tully Pool. At this stage we have been told that it will not be before Monday November 1st. We will keep you posted!

Day for Daniel & Crazy Socks
Friday 29th October is going to be a very hectic day! There is so much happening this term that we have decided to combine two very special days. Students are able to wear a red shirt (with usual school shorts), to acknowledge Day for Daniel and a pair of crazy socks for Caritas’ annual ‘Sock it to Poverty’ campaign. All students participating are asked to bring in a donation.
Satisfaction Survey
Parents, staff and Year 5 & 6 students have been invited to participate in the School results Survey. An email with the link to this survey was sent out on 20th October and the survey closes 3rd November. I encourage you to participate in this survey, as findings from the survey are used to inform future decisions and direction of the school.
Homework Policy
The St. Clare’s Homework Policy has been reviewed and updated. The St. Clare’s School Board, along with staff have worked together in the review of this document. The changes were then approved by the school board. The updated policy is attached later in this newsletter.
Blessings for the week ahead,
Karran Burzacott
Principal
Premier’s Reading Challenge

This year, more than 2.39 million books were read across the state. Congratulations to those St. Clare’s students who contributed to that amazing statistic. Certificates have been handed out to those who completed the challenge. Well done!

World Of Maths
Students from Prep - Year 6 enjoyed an interactive session with the World of Maths Team yesterday. They were challenged to use their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills to solve a variety of hands-on problems. The students all worked collaboratively and enjoyed the challenge.
Bravehearts
Prep - Year 2 enjoyed a visit with Ditto and Bravehearts on Wednesday. They heard some important safety messages and had some fun while doing it. Ditto is always a huge hit with the students. Thanks Ditto!
NRL Visit
On Wednesday 20th October we were lucky to have a visit from NRL players Thomas Flegler and Jake Clifford, along with David from the QRL, Atul from NRL development and Anthony Emmi from Tully Rugby League to deliver the Inspire program.
As former students of our school it was wonderful to have Thomas and Jake visit and tell their story about how they have established themselves in the NRL and how they have navigated life as professional athletes. Their messages of resilience and never giving up were very well received. We are very proud of their achievements and more importantly, the generous and kind young men they have grown into. True St. Clare’s values!

Happy Learning

Term 4
Assembly Classes: Wk 4 - Prep & Wk 5 - Yr 5
Other Weeks - Wk 6 - Yr 3, Wk 7 - Yr 6, Wk 8 - No Assembly, Wk 9 - End of Year
Last week was our first week of online ordering with the Flexischools App, and what a huge success it was. Thank you to those who have downloaded the app and ordered online last week.
If you haven't done so yet jump on and do it, it is a very easy process. Below are a few pointers for you to remember:
1. All orders NEED to be in prior to 11am on Thursday. If you place an order at 11am or after it will automatically go into the following weeks tuckshop, this is out of my control so please order early.
2. You can order at any time or day of the week prior to Thursday.
3. If your child is away on Friday, it is up to parents to let me know PRIOR to 8.30am for me to be able to cancel the order and for the money to go back onto your Flexischools account, failure to let me know will mean that the food will be prepared and I will be unable to refund the money.
Any questions please let me know.
