Dear St Clare's Community,
A prayer for Ukraine
Loving God,
We pray for the people of Ukraine,
for all those suffering or afraid, that you will be close to them and protect them.
We pray for world leaders,
for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.
We pray for the world
that in this moment of crisis,
we may reach out in solidarity
to our brothers and sisters in need.
May we walk in your ways
so that peace and justice
become a reality for the people of Ukraine
and for all the world.
Amen.
Welcome to Week 10! It is hard to grasp that we are about to break for holidays after what has been quite a disruptive term. I would sincerely like all staff for the amazing effort that they have put into ensuring that our students have continued with their learning. I am constantly humbled and deeply grateful for the passion with which the staff of St. Clare’s take on the challenges each and every day, and wish all staff some time over the break to take a moment to recharge the batteries.
To our students and their families, again thank you for your support over the term. Many of you have been impacted by having to isolate during the term and the way that you have helped to support your children through some learning while at home is truly appreciated. Likewise, I do hope that you have the opportunity to spend some time together as a family over the break, ready to start fresh in Term 2.
While it is easy to find the challenges close to us overwhelming at times, we do not need to look far to see that we are quite blessed. With the recent flooding in QLD and NSW and the conflict in Ukraine, I am reminded how very fortunate we are and thank you for generously donating to the flood appeal through ‘Give a Fiver for the Floods’ and St.Patrick’s Day. I also invite you to join me in taking a moment of prayer for the people of Ukraine during this time.
We are about to enter into the holiest time of the year, with April 14 marking Holy Thursday and the beginning of the Triduum. These days, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday are our way of remembering and reflecting on Jesus’ final days on earth and His glorious resurrection.
Holy Week for Christians is a very special time. It is a week during which we do things that we don’t usually do and hear things we usually don’t hear. Holy Week is definitely a week with a difference and spiritually rewarding for Christians who, willingly, are part of its unfolding.
Cross Country
Congratulations to everyone for a wonderful Cross Country Carnival last week, particularly to the students that participated with such enthusiasm, digging deep to find the determination to compete. Well done to Cooby for taking out the honors and securing a win in 2022! Special mention to Mrs Mason, a lot of extra work goes into an event like this, especially when it is so well organised. We also thank those that helped on the day, with set up, jobs throughout the event and all parents that attended and supported - thank you!
ANZAC day
ANZAC Day 2022 falls on the Monday of Week 2. As with previous years we hope to see a large number of St. Clare’s families in attendance at the official ceremony held at Mitchell Park. We will send out further information concerning the march meeting place and time in Week 1. All students are asked to wear formal uniforms and school hats.
Thank you Teitzel’s IGA Tully
A huge thank you to Teitzel’s Iga Tully Community Chest for sending through $400 to the school. This is a wonderful initiative and we also thank the members of the community for their support.
Blessing to you all for the week ahead and Easter.
Take Care,
Karran Burzacott

Welcome Community Hospitality
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 1 already. What a busy term it has been! We are grateful for the generosity of our families who have supported our many fundraisers this term, donating to the flood victims in Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales, along with our Project Compassion collections. Our school has raised over $1 000 for these combined charities through donations, a pancake breakfast, jelly cups and ice creams. I commend the Year 6 Stewardship team as they proved themselves to be responsible and keen participants in every aspect when running these fundraisers. If there are children who would still like to bring in some change from home, our Project Compassion collections will continue until this Friday.
Plans for this year’s Sacramental Program are currently being finalised and information will be handed out to interested families in the very near future. The Sacramental Program is open to students in Year 4 and above who have been baptised in a Catholic church.
As Easter falls at the end of the school holidays, we will be recognising it before the holidays. The Year 5 class has been busy working on a performance to share with the school community. We will be presenting Jesus’ Final Journey in the hall this Thursday at 2pm. All are welcome to attend.
With Blessings
Sharon Chappel
NAPLAN Practice Tests
Last week, the Year 3 and 5 classes sat a NAPLAN Practice Test. This was a great chance for the students to become familiar with the platform and get a taste of the types of questions they will be required to answer for the tests in May. The practice tests went very smoothly, with very few issues. It would be great if parents of Year 3 and 5 students could check with their child to see if their headphones were working for the test. Thank you.
Last week, a letter was emailed to parents to explain the NAPLAN process. If you have any concerns/questions about your child’s participation, please contact either Karran principal.tully@cns.catholic.edu.au or myself cedwards@cns.catholic.edu.au.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
It was fantastic to see so many parents taking the opportunity to come and talk to their child’s teacher last week. Creating a partnership between home and school provides the best support for students to learn.
If you missed the interviews and need to talk to the teacher, please email them directly or call the school office to organise an alternate time.
Happy Learning
Chris Edwards

Assembly Classes: Week 10 -Yr 2
Good afternoon friends and families, from the 27th March to the 18th of April, our Diocese of schools will be undertaking a significant upgrade to its finance software. As a result, we will not be able to issue any finance documents relating to your accounts until 19 April. We expect there will be no changes to your account details, this means that any payments you make over this period will still be recorded against your existing account. Please note that we will not have access to our system at this time and we won't be able to process any refunds or discount/concession adjustments until at least 19 April. We expect school fees for term 2 can be issued in week 3 or 4 at the latest.

Fete Update 1:
Hello, St Clare’s Fete is on Saturday the 20th August and this year’s theme is, “DREAM WITH DISNEY”. Due to other events happening in our area we have had to move the fete earlier for 2022.
From now until the fete we are hoping to have an update in our fortnightly newsletter of what is happening and the progress, after all this event is for OUR children who attend our lovely school.
Fete packs will go home week 1 of next term with the eldest child in the family. Once these go home if you can help please send in the helper slip back into the school or let one of the Fete committee know. You only have to be on a stall for an hour, we also need help before the fete and to clean up the day after. Our fete is the only one that still happens in our area annually, we make great money that benefits our school in the form of being able to purchase resources, new technology and sporting equipment.
It is always such a great night that brings our school and wider community together but for it to be a success we need your help.
Any questions please let us know.
Alicia Johnston, Kylie Morris, Marie Vipiana, Alice McNamara, Tammy Clifford and Jess Kachel.
Pie Orders close TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY 30TH MARCH AT 9AM. orders to be
placed via the Flexischools app. If you haven't placed your order please do so ASAP.
Thanks
Marie
Do you have any old Woomera or Cooby shirts at home that your children have outgrown?
If so, we would love to see them handed in to the office for students who are new to our school.
Thanks!
