Dear St Clare's Community,
Welcome to Term Three. It has been wonderful to be back with our students and see so many smiles. I hope that you all had a chance to spend time with family and friends. We wish all students competing in the District Athletics this Friday all the best. We have a long weekend coming up next week, with the Tully Show Holiday on 28th July. Hopefully we will be blessed with fine weather for both.
Catholic Education Week
Next week is Catholic Education Week (Wk 3). This week is an opportunity for all 309 Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos. Our Yr 3-6 students will travel to Innisfail to celebrate Mass with other schools in the Southern Deanery and stay for some activities afterwards. In the lead up to Catholic Education Week, our Executive Director, Mr. Bill Dixon, visited to recognise staff on their years of service. Myself and Mrs Jo Wall have accumulated 20 years. Mrs Rosanna O’Kane, who is currently on leave, has reached 30 years of service. To both of these wonderful ladies - congratulations and thank you! The Docemus Awards are also held during Catholic Education Week; we acknowledge Mrs Helen Andrews, who has been nominated this year.National Pyjama Day
National Pyjama Day falls on Friday 21st July. Students & staff (parents are welcome to join in too!), are invited to come to school in their pyjamas. Closed in shoes are still required to be worn and pyjamas also need to fit in with the school’s Sunsmart policy. Anyone coming to school in their pyjamas is asked to bring a gold coin donation. Students that do not wish to wear their pyjamas are to come in their usual school uniform.
FEEDBACK SURVEYS
This year's Feedback Surveys (previously known as Satisfaction Surveys) will be conducted during the first four weeks of Term 3.
All parents and staff are invited to take part in the survey, as well as all students in Years 5, 6, 8 and 11. You will receive an email with a link to the survey. We estimate that it will take around 30 minutes to complete.
The Feedback Surveys are an important tool in providing information and opinions - both positive and negative - which we can use to further develop and refine all aspects of our operations and offerings, at both the school and system levels. This process plays an important role in helping us gauge the wellbeing of our students, parents, and staff and to determine strategies to improve this. We are also required to report the results (in broad terms) in our annual reporting to the government.
The greater the number of participants, the greater the breadth of opinion we will be able to consider and analyse. We look forward to receiving much useful data from the surveys and will report the broad results in due course. This is a great opportunity to have your voice heard and I urge you to take advantage of this.
On Thursday 27th July, the RACQ Streets Ahead road safety program is being delivered to our Prep to Year 6 students focusing on pedestrian, passenger and riding safety. Resource Packs with age-appropriate activities and videos demonstrating strategies are available here: www.racq.com.au/streetsaheadresources. These will assist you to continue to teach road safety, implement the
strategies your child/ren have learnt and apply them to your everyday lives.

Faith Knowledge Community Respect
Welcome back to another busy term for our school. A major focus for our school next week will be on celebrating Catholic Education Week. Our Year 3 to 6 students will travel to Innisfail next Tuesday to attend a mass with other southern deanery schools and then participate in activities either at Warrina Lakes (Year 3 and 4) or touring Good Counsel College (Year 5 and 6). If you have not already done so, please complete the Parent Slip sent out last week. On Wednesday (July 26) our Prep to Year 2 students will gather in the church for a liturgy led by Fr Joby. All families are welcome to join us for this event.
If you have a child in Year 4 to 6 who has completed their sacraments and is interested in assisting Fr Joby by altar serving on a Saturday night or Sunday morning, please let me know. Forms were sent home with students this week and the assistance from children is always greatly appreciated by our parish community.
