Dear St Clare's Community,
Isn't it great to see the sun out? It certainly makes a difference when all our outdoor spaces can be used during playtimes. We have had many days recently that we have had to play undercover and I would like to commend and acknowledge the very respectful way in which St. Clare’s students have shared spaces during the wet weather. We should see a handover next week of the new flexible learning space and the student toilets. This is very exciting as the fences will come down and we will have use of the whole school again.
We are now at the halfway point of Term 3 and we have some fantastic events on the horizon. This Friday, 18th August, is the STEM Extravaganza to celebrate all things Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics. Our teacher librarian, Penny Irvine has been working to put together activities for all students to enjoy. Students are welcome to come dressed up in any way related to STEM.
Next Friday, 25th August, is our BookWeek dress up day.
The Fete is fast approaching and a very dedicated team is working non-stop to prepare for this wonderful event. Please read the update from the Fete Committee further down in this newsletter. A few helpers are required here and there on the night, so if you can spare an hour or two on the night, get in touch. Raffle ticket sales are going strong, and a huge thank you to Nancy Marsilio, who spends countless hours on behalf of St. Clare’s, selling tickets. If you still have ticket books, sold or unsold, please return them to school with your child as soon as possible.
A reminder that sessions led by Maggie Dent are being held at Good Counsel College, Innisfail. (15th & 16th August). Maggie is a very highly regarded parenting and resilience educator, I strongly encourage you to attend these sessions as they are very worthwhile.

This week will mark a very important day in our school calendar, the Feast Day of St Clare of Montefalco. We extend an invitation to our parish community to join us to
celebrate with a mass this Thursday August 17 at 9am. Our next mass will be held on Saturday September 2 to celebrate Fathers’ Day. If you have a child in Year 4 to 6 and they would like to be a part of this mass, please get in touch with me this week.
We are still in need of altar servers to assist at weekend masses. If your child has received their First Eucharist and would like to help out a Saturday night or Sunday morning, their assistance would be greatly appreciated.

- Being persistent
- Telling the truth
- Being kind and caring
- Being supportive of each other
- Reporting problems to staff members

I’m having weekly occurrences of children saying that they have tuckshop, yet I don’t have an order for them. Can you please make sure you receive a confirmation email of your order especially if your child is the one placing the order.
Fete Update No. 7
Wow what a great response we had to the return of raffle tickets last week. We still have 36 sheets outstanding, the only reason we are asking for sheets to be returned sold or unsold is that when we draw on the night if we have sheets missing it makes it difficult if we don’t have consecutive numbers in the system. We don’t expect you to buy all $50 worth if you don’t wish too, we have had families purchase $10 or $20 worth and that’s totally fine. If you have lost your sheet, can you please let me know on 0418 158 872 so we are not waiting for it to be returned.
CLASS HAMPERS: Cent sale wrapping will happen NEXT Friday 25th August, we are still taking donations in the class hampers if you haven’t already donated.
XMAS STALL: A hard copy of the Order form is going home today with the eldest in the family. Please get in quick to order your personalized Baubles for Xmas.
CAKE STALL: This Thursday is the second last week of cake stall preparation, if you can help, please let Maria know on 0400 898 104. You can still purchase Peach Blossoms and Choc Lamingtons on a Thursday and Friday morning. Please get your baking mojo going because as the fete approaches, we will be seeking donations of cakes, slices, biscuits to be donated on the night.
As the fete is getting closer, we still need help on some stalls, can you please keep in mind we are all part of the P&F and we all have children, so we would appreciate any help you can give.
If you have any questions at all, please let us know.
LIBRARY NEWS
CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK 2023
21 to 25 AUGUST
READ GROW INSPIRE
Book Week is celebrated each year in August.
This annual event highlights the importance of reading, and
draws on the joy of stories and creativity of Australian Books.
Book Week is about encouraging students to read; to share
favourite writers and illustrators; to look again at old favourite
books in maybe in a different way; to be alone and just read.
The aim for teachers during Book Week is to create an exciting
Environment and the Library using displays that challenge and stimulate
students to enjoy the theme, as well as the books that
are short listed for Book of the Year.
The Book of the Year winners will be announced during Children's Book Week.
You are welcome to visit the library to view some of the shortlisted books
