Dear St. Clare’s Community,
Welcome to Term Three. It is lovely to be back and to see some sun shining here and there. Just a reminder about uniform and haircut expectations. Students are not permitted to wear jewellery other than a single pair of studs or sleepers. I have noticed some dangles recently. These have the potential to become snagged, please do not allow your child to wear them to school. Watches are allowed to be worn. A necklace with a Religious medallion, cross or that is culturally significant can be worn. Necklaces should be kept tucked underneath shirts, again to prevent them from being snagged. Hair ties and accessories need to be school colours only and are to be minimal. Bracelets, anklets, and wristbands are not permitted to be worn. Hair past shoulder length must be tied back, not be coloured or have tracks or patterns shaved into it.
Academic Uniforms are worn Monday, Wednesday & Friday - white ankle socks and black shoes are to be worn. Sports Uniforms are worn Tuesday & Thursday - white ankle socks and joggers of choice are worn.
We appreciate your support to keep these standards high at St. Clare’s.
We wish all students competing in the District Athletics this week all the best. We have a long weekend coming up next week, with the Tully Show Holiday on 26th July. Hopefully we will be blessed with fine weather for both.
Catholic Education Week
Next week is Catholic Education Week (Wk 3). This week is an opportunity for all Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos. Our Yr 5 & 6 students will travel to Innisfail to celebrate Mass with other schools in the Southern Deanery and stay for some activities and a tour of Good Counsel College afterwards. The Docemus Awards are also held during Catholic Education Week; we acknowledge Mrs Amanda Baston and Mrs Melissa Leonardi, who have been nominated this year.

Thank you to all the families that have downloaded and are using the My CE App. If
you are yet to do so, please visit the App Store or Google Play to download to your device.
Sent to the Principal’s Office
Stanley & Tom were my first visitors in Term 3. These students showed me and explained the ‘Fraction Friends’ they had constructed in Year 3. Excellent work!
Blessings for the week ahead.

Faith Knowledge Community Respect
Welcome back to Term 3! Next week sees a very important time in the Catholic School calendar - Catholic Education Week. Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society.
This year is particularly exciting because the Cairns Diocese has been selected to host Catholic Education Week. As a part of the celebrations, our Year 6 captains will attend Mass at St Monica’s Cathedral along with other school leaders in our Diocese, while our Year 5 and 6 classes will travel to Innisfail to attend Mass at Mother of Good Counsel church before participating in a tour and activities at Good Counsel College. Our Prep to Year 4 children will attend a Liturgy at St Clare’s Church. Our school community is most welcome to join us for this liturgy.
As another part of the Catholic Week Education celebrations, the Cairns Diocese has been able to engage with Andrew Chinn (a popular Australian Christian musician) and offer each school the opportunity to have him visit for the day. This Friday (July 19) we will host Andrew where each class will participate in a one hour workshop and then a whole school concert at the end of the day. Parents are welcome to join us in the hall at 2pm for this concert.
With Blessings,

Ken Hamill
On Saturday night, a team of our Year 5 and 6 Rugby League enthusiasts played in the much anticipated Ken Hamill Cup. This annual event sees Tully State School and St Clare’s go head to head as a curtain raiser to the A Grade Tully Tigers home game. This year, after a nail biting 40 minutes of play, a draw was declared. Thank you to Filip Silvestro for training and coaching the team in the lead up to this event.

There will be 3 one hour sessions available with unlimited rides. Wristbands can be purchased for either a one hour time slot or for the entire 3 hours. These rides will be supervised by staff from Barrier Reef Jumping Castles to ensure children get the most turns possible during their time slot. Sessions will be $20 per hour, or all 3 hours for $50. There will be a limited number of wristbands sold for each session.
