Dear St. Clare’s Community,
Term 3 has gone by so very quickly as we now look ahead to the break next week and spending time with our families and friends. Of course the highlight of the term has to be the Fete! What a fantastic turnout. The time and effort that goes into making the St. Clare’s Fete such an outstanding night cannot be applauded enough. We need our whole community to come together and commit their time and skills to make events such as these so spectacularly successful. But we particularly need to thank the Fete Committee (Jess Kachel, Tammy Clifford, Marie Vipiana, Tracy Dore, Kylie Morris, Katrina Barrett, Alicia Johnston & Emily Probitts) for your organisation and coordination of this wonderful community event. I am sure you will all agree the beach theme was a great idea!
We also express huge thanks and gratitude to:
- Our P & F and Fete Committee for your support of our school and all the behind the scenes work that happens, not only for the Fete, but all year round.
- Our Cake Stall convenor, Maria, for continuing the tradition of our world class peach blossoms and other amazing treats.
- Our Cent Sale master, Marie, who managed to organise over a whopping 100 prizes and keep track of all the tickets and winners.
- All our parents that organise and run stalls
- Our longest serving P & F member, Nancy Marsilio, who sold so many extra raffle and cent sale tickets for us.
- Our staff for making sure the choreography and costumes made all the class dances first class.
- Our students (who are the real stars) as they presented and performed just like professionals.
- Our parents, grandparents and friends who volunteered their time to convene or assist on the stalls and events, helped to set up and pack up, made donations and sold raffle tickets.
- Our businesses, local and afar, who donated such generous prizes.
- Our local community who came along to support us on the night.
As usual the term has been jam packed, we have been involved in Rugby, Netball, Cricket, Science Day, Book Week, as well as all our usual learning!
Term 4 looks just as exciting and is a 10 week term - Year 4 will go on their camp in the first week of term and our Water Safety Program will begin, culminating with the Swimming Carnival in Week 8, just to mention a few events on the horizon.
As we move into the break, I ask that you be mindful of our uniform policy, particularly in regards to hair and haircuts.
- All student’s hair needs to be off the eyes.
- Long/shoulder length hair needs to be tied back.
- Hair bands/elastics/ribbons etc will be black, brown, blue or gold ONLY and will be kept to a minimum.
No other hair accessories or adornments are permitted.
- Extreme hair colours and/or extreme hairstyles (including tracks/shaved patterns) are not permitted.
Finally, to all staff, students, parents and our community, all the best for the break. I hope the weather shines for us and we all have the opportunity to enjoy the amazing backyard we are lucky to have in this part of the world.
Sent to the Principal’s Office
I was lucky enough to have some Year 4 students share in their Spelling successes. Well done to Addisyn and Warrick (not pictured) on working so hard to improve your results. Keep up the fantastic work!
Term Four commences on Monday 30th September.
Sincerest blessings for a happy and safe break.

Next term, the St Gerard committee will celebrate its 70th year of hosting the feast day for St Gerard. This is set to be quite a popular local event and as preparations for the mass begin, we are seeking a choir of children. This will be held on the afternoon (time TBC) of Saturday October 19. If your child is interested and available to be a part of the choir, please contact me by the end of term. We will hold practices after the holidays.
Thank you to those who were able to attend our recent Father’s Day Afternoon. It was lovely to see so many dads and grandads able to attend. Next term will see us celebrate Grandparents’ Day. If your child has grandparents who are able to attend, please ask them to keep the morning of Friday October 25 free. This will actually be a HUGE day at St Clare’s, where we will wear red (for Day for Daniel), with crazy socks (for Socktober) and celebrate Grandparents’ Day, Staff Appreciation Day, and end the day with a bang with our annual Mini Fete. More information around these events will be sent out in Term 4.
Mental Health Week in Queensland is acknowledged during October 5-13 this year. Our school counsellor, Sharon Scouller, and I will be working with some of our Year 5 and 6 students on some activities for the students during this week. Please note that on Friday October 13, students are invited to wear green in support of Mental Health Week.
I hope all of our families enjoy some time together over the holidays and I look forward to seeing everyone back again for the final term of the year.
With Blessings,
Term 3 Assemblies

EMPATHY
Did you know ….
80% of our happiness is derived from:
- Friendship.
- Health.
- Work fulfillment.
- Loving relationships.
- Spirituality.
When you do something kind for someone else your brain releases the love hormone oxytocin. This makes you feel good too. Check out Martin Heppell from The Resilience Project talking about being kind and the benefits of kindness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO-ja3h5INc

The CSPA 2024 Parent Survey on Student Wellbeing and Learning is seeking your perspective as parents/carers of children who attend a Catholic School in Australia.
You are invited to share your views on existing and emerging affirmations and/or challenges in relation to your child/children’s wellbeing and learning. Please consider completing this anonymous, confidential, and completely voluntary online survey.
More information about the study, how to participate, and how to have questions answered, can be found here.
Thank you for your interest.
This Thursday, a team of Year 5 and 6 St Clare’s students will compete in the Jim Graham Cup at Callendar Park in Innisfail. Thank you to Mr Silvestro and Brett Brunello who have been training the team after school to prepare for this Rugby League Carnival. The team will compete against other Catholic school teams in the Cairns Diocese. Best of luck, team!
Mary Mills Netball
A number of our Year 5 and 6 children will be participating in the Sr Mary Mills Netball Carnival on Friday. These students will be travelling to Cairns to play against other Catholic school teams from the Cairns area. St Clare’s will be taking 2 teams to this event and they have been training in their lunch breaks in readiness for the competition. Good luck, netballers!
Thank you to our many parents who are assisting with transport and helping out with teams at these carnivals.
2024 Term 3 Outstanding School Fees
Payment of outstanding fees would be appreciated as soon as possible.
Please contact the principal if you have any issues or concerns.
Thank you to those families who have made their payment for this term.
For those who make regular payments via direct debit or Bpay we appreciate if payments continue over the holidays to ensure there will be no outstanding fees starting next term.
Thankyou
What an amazing night our 2024 Beach Party Fete was.
Thank you to all the children for the wonderful dance performances and to the teachers and staff for all your hard work. A lot of time is spent in practising and preparing for the big performance, and it was an absolute hit and enjoyed by all.
To the parents and extended family members that helped on the night and leading up to the fete, we can’t thank you enough. To the parents that convened a stall on the night, this is such a huge job and we are grateful. Thank you to all those who sold and returned tickets as well and donated to the class hampers. We are unable to hold such a big event if we didn’t have your support and help.
To the P&F executive and Mrs Karran Burzacott thank you for supporting the Fete Committee in this year's Fete. Its awesome to be able to work together and have your full support.
To the community of Tully and the surrounding area, Thank You so much for the donations of prizes, cash, discounts on ingredients etc. We are very blessed to live in such a giving community. Please remember all, to shop locally where and when you can, this is where we then can give back to those who have given to our school so kindly.
If you would like to be part of the 2025 Fete Committee, the P&F are looking for new committee members as this year was the final fete for some on the committee, as their children are in their final year at St Clare’s. We would love to see some new families come on board and help to organise a wonderful community event. You will have full support with anything you may need or want to know. Please, if this is you or you have a few friends that would like to jump on board let us know.
FINALLY to the 2024 Fete committee, Kylie Morris, Jess Kachel, Katrina Barratt, Emily Probitts, Tracy Dore, Alicia Johnston and Tammy Clifford, wow girls we did it. Thank you so much for all your hard work and the time you have given to be able to co-ordinate this event. We truly hope everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did.
Attached to this week's newsletter are some unclaimed Cent Sale prizes and 1 Goods Wheel prize so please check your tickets.
Thanks again

It seems very early to be discussing enrolments for 2026 BUT if you have a child born between 1/7/2020 and 30/6/2021, your child is eligible to start Prep in 2026. Please go to our website to complete an online enrolment - https://www.stclares.qld.edu.au/enrolling/enrolment-application/. We already have a number of students registered for 2026 and do not want to see any of our existing families miss out.
