Dear Parents, Staff and Students
Welcome back to Term 2. I hope all families were able to refresh over the holidays ready for another wonderful term at school. This term has many sporting events and we continue to pray for fine weather, especially for the Athletics Carnival in Week 9. Good luck to all students going to Cassowary Coast trials or Peninsula trials for different sporting events this term.
Parent assistance is always greatly appreciated in the classroom and for extra curricular events. Thank you to parents who have already committed to assist this term, especially in our tuckshop. Thank you to John Clifford and Paul Grimaz who are today putting together shelving for our new sports shed. We look forward to parent support in preparing for our school fete in September and invite all interested to come to our P & F meeting tonight at 7pm in the library.
Staffing update
It was with great pleasure last week that Mrs Helen Andrews was announced as APRE for St Clare’s School. This was done after extensive advertising and a rigorous shortlisting and interview process. Congratulations Helen!
Prep 2022
Interviews with parents and children who will be attending prep in 2022 have commenced. It’s wonderful to meet the younger siblings of current students who are eager to be in prep the following year. Interviews with current school families are occurring over coming weeks and new families will be in the second half of the term. If you know of anyone who has a prep aged child for 2022 encourage them to contact the school for a tour or further enrolment information.
NAPLAN testing
Students in Yrs 3 & 5 will be involved in the National NAPLAN testing during Week 4 of this term. Parents of these students were sent an email last week with parent information attached. Testing will be done in an online environment for all tests apart from the Yr 3 Writing.
Peace to you and your family for the coming week,
Narelle Harney

Season of Easter
Pilgrim Walk
On the last day of Term 1, each class went on a pilgrim walk around the school and visited the 14 Stations of the Cross. They reflected on the story at each station and joined in special prayers of remembrance. The students were so reverent and were actively engaged in the stories that unfolded during the pilgrim walk.
Easter Sunday
When we returned to school last week, we focused on Easter Sunday and celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. As a follow on from the Stations of the Cross Pilgrim Walk, there was an Easter tomb as a focus for our reflection. Each class visited the tomb and participated in reflective prayers about this important feast day in the life of the Church.
A big thank you to all the teachers for their involvement in the preparation and setting up for these holy day celebrations.

Project Compassion Boxes
Congratulations to everyone who support Project Compassion during Lent this year. Our almsgiving for this year was tremendous and as a school community we raised $1682. A special mention to our Prep class who were very generous and raised $400 as a class. The Prep’s will be having a celebration party one Friday afternoon as a treat for their wonderful generosity and compassion for others.
ANZAC Day
It was wonderful to see so many St Clare’s staff and students marching in the Tully ANZAC parade on Sunday to show respect to the brave men and women who have and are serving our country. Despite the Tully weather, there were many who braved the wet conditions to come for the service. Congratulations to our school captains who did an excellent job of their duties for the ceremony. We were very proud of the respect shown by all our students and their wonderful singing voices when the National Anthem was sung. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support our students and a special thank you the Year 6 parents who organised the tent at the cenotaph.
