From The Acting Principal's Desk
Dear Staff, students and families of St. Clare’s,
I am so looking forward to getting to know the St. Clare’s community. I was fortunate enough to spend some time at St. Clare’s last week, meet some staff and students, and I am very keen to get to know many more of you. As you know my first day at St. Clare’s will be Monday 14th June, please do not hesitate to seek me out and introduce yourself.
I look forward to being part of this community and getting to know everyone. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to lead this school for the remainder of 2021. Thank you to Narelle Harney and the staff of St Clare’s for their continuous effort and dedication, and the support they have shown to me in such a short amount of time to make this change over as smooth as possible.
Blessings to you all,
Karran Burzacott
Acting Principal
Welcome Community Hospitality
I would like to welcome Karran Burzacott to St Clare’s as our Acting Principal. We hope the St Clare’s charism of Welcome, Community and Hospitality are shining brightly during her time with us. Welcome Karran!
WELLBEING WEEK
Week 8 is Wellbeing Week at St Clare’s and students have the week off from written homework.
As a parent you know that your child’s success at school is linked to their wellbeing.
Wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. When your child feels connected to their family, peers and teachers they feel secure in the knowledge that they will be supported throughout their learning journey. Safe and trusting relationships create a positive learning environment where wellbeing can flourish. The Australian Student Wellbeing Framework supports you to work with the school to promote your child's wellbeing and learning.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
During Wellbeing week, staff and students are having a focus on performing random acts of kindness to each other. Everyone is thinking of creative ways to show kindness to another person unexpectedly.
A random act of kindness is an unexpected act of charity or helpfulness and is often done for a stranger. The term refers to selfless acts, both large and small, that are committed unexpectedly, without prompting and with no apparent ulterior motive. Examples might include paying for a coffee for the person in line behind you at the coffee shop, helping a person cross the street, or offering to help soothe a crying baby while the parents finish shopping. People generally use the term to refer to acts performed for strangers, but random acts of kindness can also be done for friends and family.

Our prayer for this week:
May your find peace and kindness in your day.

It’s State of Origin time again and North Queensland is super excited to have the first game in Townsville. On Wednesday (tomorrow), students are invited to come in free dress in their favourite footy team shirts or colours.
WINTER UNIFORM
On the colder mornings students may wear the following as per our Uniform policy:
Plain NAVY jumper, zip style or navy pullover. NAVY track pants or black leggings.
The plain blue jumpers that some students have are also acceptable. Please note that coloured jumpers or any with logos/pictures should NOT be worn.
UNDER 8’s DAY
We are celebrating Under 8’s day on Wednesday 23rd June for the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students. The theme for 2020 is Children Celebrating Outdoor Play and Learning. This presents a fantastic opportunity to take part in all sorts of exciting outdoor play and learning activities, to get our students active and engaged.
Children can come to school in free dress (sunsafe) for the day.
Ms Harney’s Farewell
Last Friday, we had a wonderful assembly to say farewell to Ms Harney. Our Year 2 class led us in prayer and performed a song they had written to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb. The students displayed their musical abilities they had learnt in music this term playing the recorders and percussion instruments. Well done to the Year 2’s and Ms Moloney.
Each class shared their memories and good wishes along with a momento for Ms Harney. Staff and students celebrated by sharing a cake. We would all like to wish Ms Harney all the best at St Francis Xavier.

Hi All,
Our Athletics Carnival is on NEXT FRIDAY the 18th June and we run a slightly different Tuckshop Menu that day as our canteen is set up over on the oval (weather permitting). The menu will be sent home next Monday, orders are due Thursday as normal. Parents are more then welcome to order as well or can purchase on the day.
We require parent helpers on the day as well, as we all want to get around to watch our child or children participate. Please keep that in mind and if you are free at any stage, pop over and lend a hand.
Thanks Marie
Student reports for Semester One will be available on Friday 25th June via the Parent Portal. Prep parents and parents of new students to St. Clare’s this year will receive a separate note about logging in for the first time.
For everyone else, please check your access to the portal before this date. Attached is a document (Parent Portal Invitation) to remind you how to get into the parent portal. If you can’t remember your password from last year, there are instructions on how to reset it.
It is recommended that you download and save your child's reports to your own devices for future access.
If you require any assistance in accessing the Parent Portal, please contact Chris Edwards oncedwards@cns.catholic.edu.au

Hi All,
As announced a few weeks ago our Annual School Fete is on Saturday 11th September.
To keep everyone in the loop, the wonderful ladies in the Fete committee have been busy getting a kick start to the organising. In the next couple of weeks, a fete pack will go home which will have some important information in it including a roster where helpers are required, important dates etc.
This year we are having a change in the way our raffle is conducted. We are having one Monster Raffle with 8 major prizes up for grabs. We are lucky to have so many wonderful businesses already on board and we are excited to get the tickets out.
Stay tuned for more information regarding our Australian Themed 2021 St Clares Fete.
