Dear St Clare's Community,
National Reconciliation Week is celebrated across Australia from May 27th to June 3rd. National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and t
o explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Thank you to Mrs Chappel for creating prayer spaces that acknowledge and reflect on this very important time.
It has been 12 months since I was lucky enough to be able to join the St. Clare’s community. I do look back on the past year with a huge amount of gratitude and thanks. I am particularly thankful for the staff of St. Clare’s, who consistently work extremely over and above to provide the best possible opportunities for our students. We are also blessed to have amazing students that make it all worthwhile, along with the support parents show to their children and to St. Clare’s is what makes our school special.
It was wonderful to see the sea of maroon yesterday to celebrate Queensland Day. This week continues with some more experiences for students with ‘Ghana Beat My Drums’ performance and a Touch Rugby Development officer in for a visit. Mrs Moloney is taking students up to Cairns to participate in the Reader’s Cup. Good Luck to Lexie, Sophie, Amber and Evie - we hope you all have a great day!
Take care and blessings for the weeks ahead

Welcome Community Hospitality
I had the pleasure of working with some of our Year 4 students this week as a part of their preparation for completing the sacrament of Reconciliation. While Mrs Burzacott explained the process of the Examen of Conscience, I was reminded of how powerful this simple routine is and how its impact immediately allows one to release so many of the day’s challenges and stresses. I thought I would share some of the steps for those who may feel that they too need to take a breather from the chaos of daily life!
-
Ask God for Light - Talk to God about your day.
-
Give Thanks - What are you grateful for today? Thank God for this.
-
Review the Day - What disappointed you today? Speak to God about this.
-
Consider your Choices. Guided by the Holy Spirit, think about your choices today. Is there something you need to say sorry for and ask for God’s help?
Look Toward the Day to Come - How can you use your gifts tomorrow?
With Blessings
Sharon Chappel
STEM Group:
This term a group of 8 students have been working with Ms Moloney on a Monday afternoon on completing some hands-on STEM tasks. They have shown creative thinking, resilience and used trial and error to complete the challenges. They have been using Turing Tumble boards which set challenges to use moving parts to create a path for a ball to travel and achieve a specific output. The challenges started easier to allow the students to understand and see how the parts work and move. The students built on their knowledge each week to complete more challenging paths with more complex parts.
This week the challenge was flipped! They were required to create their own task for a peer to complete. They were required to specify the output and the objective of the task and stipulate which pieces could be used. After testing their theory and finding a solution, they were able to challenge their peers…..
Throughout the challenges it has been pleasing to see the children working together and supporting each other, building friendships and the resilience displayed through some of the frustrating times.
Reader’s Cup Group:
On Thursday 9th of June, Amber, Evie, Lexie, Sophie will travel to Cairns to compete against 49 other schools in the FNQ 2022 Year 5/6 Reader’s Cup competition. The girls have been busy reading, discussing, quizzing and analysing 5 different chapter books over the course of the term. Some books have been more challenging and others have been more enjoyable. The girls are looking forward to their upcoming competition and we wish them all the best for the competition. I know they will proudly represent St Clare’s School.
Public Speaking Competition
Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming public speaking competition to be held at St Clare’s. The top 2 winners from the Year 3/4 and 5/6 category will go on to verse children from other schools.

FETE UPDATE NO 6:
Just a quick update as the end of term is approaching:
ROSTER: We still need help on the night, the roster is attached. We need a lot more helpers in the Kitchen and the Kiddies Corner. This year we have Jess Anders coming in to run the Kiddies Corner. She will do the face painting, bring along some arcade games and products to sell. We will receive 50% of the sales so we are really excited about having something a little different. The kitchen is one of the busiest places on the night and for some reason the one place we struggle for help. Please if you can give some time in one of these stalls we would really appreciate it.
CLASS HAMPERS: I have been going around to the classrooms to collect items, thank you so much to those who have donated. The Prep room is on fire with donations, awesome to see.
CAKE STALL: Our wonderful ladies have Peach Blossoms and Choc Lamingtons ready to sell. These will be available on a WEDNESDAY between 8.30am and 2.30pm and on a Friday between 8.30 to 11am. Get in quick, tell your family and friends. If you would like an order form to collect orders for yourself, business or club please contact Maria Calleja on 0400 898 104. We are still seeking helpers on a Wednesday if you can spare some time please join us in the Tuckshop from 8.30am.
PEACH BLOSSOMS: $ 15 DZ
CHOC LAMINGTONS: $ 10 FOR 6
RAFFLE TICKETS: Wow its awesome to see tickets coming in, please we would love to see more in before the school holidays.
Thanks
Marie

Dear Parents/carers and staff,
In partnership with Arup and Zwart Transport Planning, the Department of Transport and Main Roads is gathering insights from parents/ carers and staff about bicycle and scooter parking at schools across Queensland.
The Department of Education has granted permission for schools to be involved in the research.
If you would like to contribute your experiences and assist in improving bicycle/scooter parking at schools, we invite you to complete the following online survey by Friday 24 June 2022.
