Dear St Clare's Community,
Welcome to Term Three. It has been wonderful to see so many smiles over the past week as we all return for the term. I hope that you all had a chance to spend time with family and friends. I’m sure many families will take advantage of the long weekend this week (Tully Show Holiday Friday 22nd) and are keeping everything crossed for fine weather.
Over the holidays we had fans installed in the undercover area. These two enormous fans will really help out when the weather heats up later in the year. We sincerely thank the P&F for making the purchase and installation of these fans possible.
I would also like to thank the St. Gerard Committee for purchasing and installing two new bench seats. This seating has been placed in play areas for students to use. The St. Gerard Committee has donated this seating on behalf of Fr. John O’Connor, who many of you will remember as a former Parish Priest who was heavily involved in supporting students to participate in sports.
School Satisfaction Surveys
You should have received an email with a link to our annual School Satisfaction Survey. All parents, staff and students in Year 5 & 6 are invited to participate in this survey. It takes around 10 minutes to complete and your input is a very valuable resource to help plan for continuous improvement and ensure we are meeting the needs of our students.
Catholic Education Week
Next week is Catholic Education Week (Wk 3). This week is an opportunity for all 309 Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos.
Our Yr 4-6 students will travel to Innisfail to celebrate Mass with other schools in the Southern Deanery and stay for a short time afterwards. Prep – 3 Students will celebrate with a Liturgy at St. Clare’s. Further information can be found in the APRE News.
National Pyjama Day
National Pyjama Day falls on Friday 22nd July. As it is our show holiday, St. Clare’s will celebrate this day on Monday 25th July. Students & staff (parents are welcome to join in too!), are invited to come to school in their pyjamas. Closed in shoes are still required to be worn and pyjamas also need to fit in with the school’s Sunsmart policy. Anyone coming to school in their pyjama’s is asked to bring a gold coin donation. Students that do not wish to wear their pyjama’s are to come in their usual school uniform.
2023 Planning
We are in the beginning stages of planning for next year. I will be having staffing and budget meetings over coming weeks and it is always good to know of any changes in enrolment. If your family will not be continuing at St Clare’s in 2023 please advise by emailing principal.tully@cns.catholic.edu.au
Wishing everyone a very enjoyable long weekend,
Karran Burzacott
Principal
Welcome Community Hospitality
Welcome back to Term 3! We will engage in many religious celebrations over this term, beginning with Catholic Education Week in Week 3. Our school will celebrate this occasion with a liturgy for Prep to Year 3 on Wednesday July 27 at 9am at St Clare’s Church (families are welcome to join us). Year 4 to 6 students will travel to Innisfail for the day to attend a mass with other Catholic schools in the southern deanery and then enjoy time either participating in activities at Warrina Lakes or a guided tour of Good Counsel College. Please ensure you have completed the Parent Slip sent out last week so that your child is able to attend.
Our St Clare’s families have chosen a Catholic education for their children and this is the perfect time to be thankful for the opportunity we have given our children to develop into caring people with a focus on the humanitarian and justice needs around our community and world. Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society. This year’s theme is ‘Faith, Hope and Love’, which you will see on posters around our school (and you will also notice a very familiar face on many of them!)
With Blessings
Sharon Chappel
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Students still have time to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge by reading 20 books (P-4) or 15 books (5-6). All completed Premier’s Reading Challenge forms need to be returned to school by 26th August. Click on the link if you require a form.
Australian Curriculum Version 9
You may have heard in the media that ACARA have released Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum. There are many changes to the curriculum in this version, therefore, implementation will be phased in over a number of years. Teachers and the leadership team will be working with consultants from CES to update our school planning documents to reflect the necessary changes. More information will be provided in the near future.
Happy Learning
Chris Edwards
The School Watch program encourages everyone to look out for and report any after-hours crime in our schools.
Empty schools can become targets for unlawful entry, arson, stealing, graffiti and property damage, especially during school holiday periods. This comes at a cost to the whole community and not just the financial cost of repairs.
The School Watch program is a partnership between the Department of Education and Protective Services Group, Queensland Police Service, providing a way for members of the community to report anything they see that is suspicious, even if it seems minor.
On average, more than 700 calls are made to School Watch every year, helping to keep our schools safe.
Look, Listen, Report. Call School Watch on 13 17 88.
If you see a crime in progress, call Triple Zero (000).

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the St Clare’s Community for their well wishes, prayers and love over the last 10 months during my recent illness and recovery. I feel very blessed to be part of such a wonderful and caring community! I am excited to be back at school this term and have loved catching up with all of the students, parents and teachers. A very big thank you again and looking forward to seeing those I haven't yet had the chance to reconnect with.

TERM 3 IS HERE AND ITS FETE TERM
Every week between now and the fete we will be focussing on a particular area/stall. A message will go home via Seesaw.
A few reminders:
FETE ROSTER: We really need to get the Fete Roster finalised BUT to do this we need more help. Please let someone on the committee know where YOU can help. Just a reminder there is no longer any restrictions on volunteering at school or for the fete.
RAFFLE TICKETS: All tickets need to be returned as soon as possible, this will just save us time in following families up. We have some awesome prizes this year that all have been generously donated by local businesses.
CHOCOLATE STALL: We require donations of chocolates in the form of bars, boxes and/or blocks for the stall. If you see chocolates on special at IGA or Woolworths please grab a few. These can be dropped off at the school office in the bucket provided. Also if you have old flower arrangement boxes lying around at home the ladies would love them to use to display top shelf prizes, these can be brought to the office as well.
CAKE STALL: Peach Blossom creaming etc is happening on a Wednesday during school hours. Please if you can spare time we would love the help. You can let Maria know on 0400 898 104. We still have Peach Blossoms - $ 14 dz and Chocolate Lamingtons $ 10 for 6 for sale as well, please spread the word.
CLASS HAMPERS: We only have 3 weeks until Cent Sale wrapping therefore we need a lot more donations in the class hampers. These donations play a huge part of our prizes that we do up. Just a reminder what each class is on:
PREP: Laundry
YEAR 1: Garden/Outdoors
YEAR 2: Pantry/Kitchen
YEAR 3: Games/Fun
YEAR 4: Bathroom/Pamper
YEAR 5: Mums Delight
YEAR 6: Dads Delight
As the fete is earlier this year we are really pushing for time. We really hope the above update gets everyone thinking about helping and donations.
Any further information or questions please let Marie, Kylie, Alicia, Tammy, Alice or Jess know.
