Dear St Clare's Community,
Welcome to Week 8 and Wellbeing week. It’s amazing how fast the term goes when you are busy. Take the time to do something different with your family this week. It is a week to refresh together without the demands of written homework.
Sincerest thanks and congratulations to all those involved in the Fete. It felt like the turnout was bigger than ever! It was so good to see the St. Clare’s Community come together and celebrate all things Disney. A very special thanks to the Fete Committee, the P&F and all the people that help in the build up, set up and pack up. It is a huge task and to see the Fete run so smoothly is a testament to the organisational skills of all involved. I also need to acknowledge all the staff for the time and effort put into delivering an exceptional performance on the night - the routines and costumes were outstanding. And finally, of course, congratulations to all our students - the enthusiasm shown on the dance floor made it a very special and entertaining performance.

Father’s Day – Sept 5th
This weekend we celebrate and give thanks for fathers and father-like figures in our lives. Leading up to the weekend, take some time to reflect on the love and lessons your own fathers have given you and give thanks for their presence in your life. We wish all Fathers a wonderful day on Sunday!
Next week is Child Protection Week.
We take the opportunity to reflect on the important role we play in keeping all children safe. We pray for the young victims of any form of harm, that they may be loved, cared for and supported on their life’s journey. Child Protection is everyone’s responsibility and we have a responsibility to teach our children how to be safe in a variety of circumstances. We do use the Daniel Morcombe program as a stimulus for teaching our children important lessons around personal safety. Together we can keep your children safe. Launched on Father’s Day every year, National Child Protection Week, supports and encourages the safety and wellbeing of Australian children and families. Promoting safe, positive and supportive relationships and interactions with others is an important part of this. An ongoing message that is always promoted is that protecting children is everyone’s business and all Australians are urged to be involved. More information can be found here: https://www.napcan.org.au/get-involved-2022/
Please remember that this Friday is a Pupil Free day – September 2nd
PLEASE NOTE:
OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED THIS FRIDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER
Take care and blessings for the weeks ahead.

This week marks a major milestone in the history of the Catholic Church in Cairns, with the retirement of our long-serving Bishop, James Foley.
Bishop James has been a dedicated servant of the Catholic community in Far North Queensland for 30 years and has always shown a great interest in our schools. His commitment to the young people of the diocese - and to both their education and spiritual formation - has always been clearly evident. He has been a welcome and thoughtful presence in our schools since his ordination as our Bishop in 1992. Much has happened and changed since then, but Bishop James has been a constant source of wisdom and encouragement to us. We will miss him.
After his final Mass last Sunday evening, Bishop James was congratulated and thanked for all he has done, and he ceremonially laid his crozier on the altar of St Monica's Cathedral, signifying the end of his formal role as our shepherd.
Our Catholic Education community sincerely thanks Bishop James for his guidance and stewardship over three decades, and we pray that he has a happy and healthy retirement.
The Vicar for Education and Parish Priest of Innisfail, Fr Kerry Crowley, has been named by Pope Francis to be the Administrator of the Diocese until a new Bishop is selected.

Welcome Community Hospitality
For those children who have recently received their sacraments, there is the opportunity to continue to serve our local parish through the role of altar server. If this is something that your child may be interested in, please let me know.

Rugby 9's
Last week a group of boys in the U11 and U12 age group participated in our first ever Southern Zone Rugby 9's Competition. This is a rugby league competition with only 9 players allowed on the field. The boys played against the Super Southern Schools (Cardwell, Kennedy & Murray Upper) in their first game where they walked away with a win (24 - 8). Their second game was against Mission Beach SS and the boys were successful again with a winning score of 16 - 8. Congratulations boys.
The boys have progressed to the final against Tully SS which will be played this Thursday at 4:30pm at the Tully Showgrounds. Good luck boys.
Thank you to Mrs Chappel and Mr Nona for all of their work with coaching and managing this team and a special mention to Rhiannon Lizzio, Brendan Slattery and John Clifford for all of their guidance and support last Thursday.
Kind Regards,
Kate Mason

Thank you to all the children for the wonderful dance performances and to the teachers and staff for all your hard work. A lot of time is spent in practising and preparing for the big performance, and it was an absolute hit and enjoyed by all.
To the parents and extended family members that helped on the night and leading up to the fete, we can’t thank you guys enough. To the parents that convened a stall on the night this is such a huge job and we are grateful. Thank you to all those who sold and returned tickets as well and donated to the class hampers. We are unable to hold such a big event if we didn’t have your support and help.
To the P&F executive John Clifford, Paul Grimaz, Melissa Murphy, Kelly Slattery and our Principal, Mrs Karran Burzacottt thank you guys for supporting the Fete Committee in this year's Fete. Its awesome to be able to work together and have your full support.
To the community of Tully and the surrounding area, thank you so much for the donations of prizes, cash, discounts on ingredients etc. We are very blessed to live in such a giving community. Please remember all, to shop locally where and when you can, this is where we then can give back to those who have given to our school so kindly.
FINALLY to the 2022 Fete committee, Kylie Morris, Alicia Johnston, Alice McNamara, Tammy Clifford and Jess Kachel wow girls we did it. Thank you so much for all your hard work and the time you have given to be able to co-ordinate this event. We truly hope everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did.

My name is Emily and I'm emailing you on behalf of Topology.
I thought that I'd reach out to let you know that Topology is coming to Tully on Saturday 12th November with a Queensland Stories performance!
You may know, Queensland Stories is a fantastic collaboration between Topology and the community which utilises the talents of local musicians and artists. The local musicians will join Topology up on stage in front of the community to perform and share the stories of friends and family in regional Queensland. This year, we will return to the Tully Multi-Purpose Hall to celebrate and relive some of the best moments which have made our past 25 years of touring so special.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could share some information about the performance, and if you wanted to post about the event through your social media channels that would be fantastic! Here is the normal link to the event that can be shared to the community: https://topologymusic.com/events/queensland-stories-tully/
I'm happy to field any other questions you may have, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Have a great day!
Kind regards,
Emily
