Dear St Clare's Community,
Welcome back to Term 2. I hope all families were able to refresh over the holidays ready for another wonderful term at school. This term has many sporting events, in particular the Athletics Carnival in Week 9. This year the Carnival days will be Monday 12th June and Thursday 15th June. Good luck to all students going to Cassowary Coast trials or Peninsula trials for different sporting events this term.
A huge thank you to the P&F for once again running the Pie Drive. I would like to acknowledge in particular Marie Vipiana for coordinating this fundraiser for the P&F and of course those parents that help on pie delivery day. This could not be possible without the support of Bryn & April Walton from Tully Bakery who prepare and supply our delicious pies - hands down the best curry pie in FNQ! Thanks once again Bryn & April for your excellent culinary skills.
You may have also seen our Facebook post about the extremely generous donation from the St. Gerard Committee. The St. Gerard Committee goes quietly about supporting St. Clare’s each and every year and we are very appreciative of their support. This recent donation will go towards some new play equipment for the downstairs sand pit. I am expecting a delivery of trucks, tippers, diggers, spades, scoops and buckets early next week. The tuckshop has also benefited from a donation from the St. Gerard Committee to put towards new equipment - thank you very much!
As you would have noticed, the building project for new student amenities and a multi-purpose classroom space is well under way. Our access around the school has changed and everyone is handling it beautifully. It looks like a large majority of the demolition work has been done already and with a delivery of Besser blocks this morning, construction will start soon. We won’t be sad to see the jackhammer put away! The expected completion date for these works is August 18th, so send prayers for fine weather and plentiful supplies of building materials.
A gate has been installed at the front of the school. Students can still enter this way in the morning, as the gate will be open for students. We will close the gate at 9am each day. Any students arriving after 8:45 am should be signed in at the office before going to their classroom.
Fete packs are heading home this week! Please keep an eye out for them and we look forward to your support of the Fete in whatever way you can.
Blessings for the weeks ahead

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope that you were able to enjoy some time to renew and reflect over the Easter break. At our final count before the holidays, our school had raised over $700 for Project Compassion. Thank you to our wonderful school community for your generosity over the Lenten period.
This Tuesday April 25, we join the Tully community to acknowledge ANZAC Day. We encourage all students to meet us at the front of Mitre 10 at 9.45am to participate in the march along Butler Street and up to Mitchell Park. We will have our school tent set up for students to sit under during the ceremony. Students are required to wear their formal uniform (including their school hat) and bring a water bottle along.
Our Prep to Year 3 students will be participating in a Mother’s Day Mass at St Clare’s Church on Saturday May 13 at 6pm. If you have a child in one of these year levels and plan to attend, please let me know so that I can allocate roles in the mass. Year 4 students who are participating in the 2023 Sacramental Program will also be attending this mass to receive their cross and the Creed. As always, we would love to see St Clare’s families attending these events to celebrate with us.
With Blessings
Sharon Chappel
MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Support)
From previous newsletters, you would be aware of the MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Support) journey that our school is undertaking this year to promote student engagement. One of the first steps in this journey was to review our current values. At the end of 2022, we consulted with members of our school community to hone down 4 values that we believe suit the culture of our school today. Our students then created images that they believe best represented these values and we worked alongside a designer to create icons that we will be using throughout the school. We are currently working on how we can incorporate these values across the school to promote the engagement of students in all areas of their school life. We will continue to keep parents and students up to date with our progress through the newsletter and Friday assemblies.

2023 ST CLARE’S FETE
2023 Fete preparation is underway. This year’s fete will be held on Saturday 9th September. Our student performances will begin at 5pm and the fete fun will commence from 6pm till late. This year’s theme is “ROCK AND ROLL”.
Fete packs will be sent home today with the eldest in the family. The pack includes lots of information, raffle tickets, stall roster, cake stall baking dates and other important dates.
The fete is our major fundraiser and St Clare’s is the only school in the community that still has an annual fete, BUT for this year's fete to be as successful as previous years we need YOUR HELP. We are asking that one adult from each family volunteer either before the fete with baking/cent sale wrapping, etc. or on the night, on a stall for an hour. As the saying goes, plenty of hands make light work. As parents we are all part of the P & F so any help you can give is greatly appreciated as the money raised goes back to helping our children in many different aspects of the school.
The fete is a fun night that is made possible by the Staff, parents and the community who donate so many wonderful prizes and of course our students, whose performances will be nothing short of amazing. Please let your family and friends know the date.
As the fete approaches, we will have updates in the newsletter and via Seesaw. If you need any further information, please contact one of the fete committee members:
Kylie Morris, Marie Vipiana, Alicia Johnston, Tammy Clifford, Alice McNamara or Jess Kachel.
Thanks
