This weekend we look forward to our annual fete. The theme is ‘Let’s Get Physical’ and students have been practising diligently for their class performances on the night. All parents should have received information from teachers regarding Saturday’s requirements and arrival time. I look forward to seeing everyone at the fete and celebrating the high quality fete that St. Clare’s always provides for our school and wider community. Spread the word to everyone you know to come along and have some fun!
This week is Child Protection Week. We take the opportunity to reflect on the important role we play in keeping all children safe. We pray for the young victims of any form of harm, that they may be loved, cared for and supported on their life’s journey. Child Protection is everyone’s responsibility and we have a responsibility to teach our children how to be safe in a variety of circumstances. We do use the Daniel Morcombe program as a stimulus for teaching our children important lessons around personal safety. Together we can keep your children safe. Launched on Father’s Day every year, National Child Protection Week, supports and encourages the safety and wellbeing of Australian children and families. Promoting safe, positive and supportive relationships and interactions with others is an important part of this.
An ongoing message that is always promoted is that protecting children is everyone’s business and all Australians are urged to be involved.
Wellbeing Week
Our practice each term is to have no homework during Wellbeing Week in Week 8. Students are still expected to read each night to keep up their fluency and comprehension development. Take the time to do something different with your family this week.
Prep Transition Program Term 4
Families who have a child enrolled in Prep 2020 should have received a letter about the transition program last week. If you have not received the information please contact the office to get another copy sent to you.
Please remember that term three finishes on Friday September 20th. We will resume for our fourth term after the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Term 4 commences on Tuesday October 8th.
Best wishes for the week ahead! See you at the fete on Saturday night!

Welcome Community Hospitality
Last week, I was in the presence of an enthusiastic group of people in leadership from schools throughout the Dioceses of Brisbane, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns. We were all strengthening and deepening our knowledge and understanding of the Enhancing Catholic School Identity (ECSI) Project in order to help determine how best to support the Catholic Identity in our own school context. I look forward to working alongside our school leadership, staff, students and parents of our school community to help facilitate our continued development.
We honour fathers and father figures ~ Humble of Heart. Strength of Purpose.
Last Sunday, we celebrated Father’s Day, a day where we remember and honour those men in our lives who are our fathers, or are as father figures to us: those men who, through their open-heartedness, are people of compassionate mercy, who wisely take the message of the Risen Christ into their hearts, who humbly use their strength of purpose to be co-creators with God and who are courageous peacemakers in our troubled and complex world. Fill their hearts with love, humility, and openness. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Sunday, 8th September ~ The Nativity of Mary, 2019
Next Sunday we celebrate the special feast of the birth of Mary. We honour Mary as the person who carried Jesus and gave birth to him, the Son of God. Mary was a faith-filled and loving servant of God who only wanted what God wanted of her. God loved her very much.
Mary was specially chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. She must have had some great qualities for God to choose her. She would have to be very trusting.
When the angel asked her to be the mother of Jesus, she trusted that God would look after her.
- Mary would have been a person of faith.
Mary always had great faith in God and prayed for guidance.
- Mary was a kind and generous person.
When Mary had given birth to Jesus, the shepherds came to see him, and Mary welcomed them with kindness and warmth.
- Mary was a filled with love for Jesus.
When Jesus was lost, she was very worried because she loved him so much.
- Mary was a person who accepted God’s will for her.
Even when Mary didn’t understand what God was asking of her, she accepted God’s will.
- Mary was a strong and courageous person.
When Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem, and later to Egypt, Mary showed strength in mind, body and spirit.

Lids 4 Kids
Our P & F are going to coordinate the Lids 4 Kids collection for St Clare’s School. Classes will soon be given collection containers and students will be educated on what lids can be collected for this worthy cause.
This project was founded by Tim Miller, an amazing Dad from Canberra who realised Lids (bottle caps) were going to landfill so he did some internet research and discovered Envision. Envision is an Australian Not-for-Profit group in Victoria that trains disadvantaged people to use 3D printers to make mobility aids for children who are amputees. For more information about the project go to https://envision.org.au/
